Trump order

By Orc Breath2, in Battlelore

Is the 'Trump' order of rulings-ranking basically -

base rules

superseded by unit rules

superseded by terrain

superseded by command cards

superseded by Lore cards ??

Sure, that sounds OK. The order seems like it works fine. Base rules are the lowest. Terrain overrides most units abilities though there may be cases that the unit trumps terrain. Command cards, especially tactic cards are meant to "break" the rules.

Lore, for the most part, will trump Command cards but more often than not works along side it. The key to Lore cards is to play it when the card tells you to. Also, reaction Lore cards trump normal Lore cards. And when that rule of thumb doesn't work, the final one is last card played trumps all.

Looks good to me too.

Attempting my hand at a convoluted example:

Player1 plays Mounted Charge and Enchanted Mass Might. Player1 moves a blue banner mounted unit to a countryside hex adjacent to a hill hex. Upon that hill hex is a blue banner dwarven spear bearer unit. Player1 announces a battle onto that hill hex with an attack of 4d (3d base attack lowered to 2d by terrain, boosted back to 3d by Mounted Charge, boosted up to 4d by Enchanted Mass Might). Player2 counters with Slow, relegating the attack back to 2d. Player1 rolls lore, bonus strike. Player2's dwarves lose two figures. The spear bearers battle back with 3d (4d base battle back lowered to 3d by terrain). Roll is blue, bonus strike, red. Player2's blue cavalry lose one figure.

Oops. Knew I would switch something around: Last sentence should read " Player1's blue cavalry lose one figure."

Thanks Guys,,

I'll note that in the margin of my notes.

Sometimes its lost in the heat of arguments_ errr battle.
