Regular Reactive Fire - Do you use it?

By Maximum2, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

Just curious if anybody uses regular (single dice roll) reactive fire.

Personally I find it is a bit too risky to waste a squad/walker activation for an entire round on one dice roll unless that walker/squad is knocking at deaths door already or has almost no chance of surviving like being adjacent to a BBQ squad.

That is exactly when you use it or if its the end of the turn and you won't get to shoot anyway. Mind you, same rule applies if you have advance or superior reaxtive fire as well, no point in using it in any other situations.

Last night it saved my 2 man BBQ squad soldiers from a 2 zombie attack. Burn in hell you basterds!

Reactive Fire should be used carefully, but you shouldn't be afraid of it. It can be a life saver and a game changer. My opponent never risks it, I do it fairly often, and usually to my advantage.

Reactive Fire is a risk, but it is an important option that it can be very foolish to ignore.

Using it foolishly can be a waste, but using it when it is appropriate can win games.

The most obvious is when a unit is about to be attacked by overwhelming force to give them one last chance for revenge.

The least obvious is simply being known to use it, and so making your opponent worry about whether they should risk an action that might prompt it.

There are plenty of appropriate times between those options where it can be well worth the risk.

Only when the likely outcome is deàth. I don't use it for chicken shooting.

I use it in 3 instances.

1) My unit will be dead/crippled if I don't

2) My unit will be useless if I don't

3) The game is on the line
