Talisman: The Blood Moon Expansion

By Velhart, in Talisman

Ye really cool, no need to worry about getting fate on this guy. I like that all 3 new characters have some kind of "draw more adventure card" skills. It is really needed when you play with all expansions that have I would think more than 400 cards

We have 485 adventure cardsgran_risa.gif

Is that including the 2 promo adventure cards gui%C3%B1o.gif

Ell.

I count 488, but with 111 of them from the new set (111 vs 377), its about every 3.something cards, on average will be Blood Moon.

Not bad. That may be a key or clue to future small set expansions (maybe large too). If you want to change or add a new factor (Night/Day, time passage) you will need enough cards to cover that. Though this is not neccessarily through the 111 cards but because of the way ALL event cards trip the day/night feature. That the many other cards are ranged with creatures, places, followers, objects, etc, that possibly take advantage of that factor is cool too. I suppose that any future additions to Adventure deck will take advantage of the time factor.

I still have not played yet and am quite anxious! -Oberon

Please give us more spoilers :)

Especially dangerous cards or some game changing effects.

Hey Velhart,

I was counting "just" Adventure cards. With the Blood Moon, the total is 488. I was not counting the other deck cards; dungeon, highland, etc.

so as I said with 111 of the 488 Adventure cards being Blood moon, that means about 1 blood moon card every 3. something cards,

which I think is a cool ration!

-oberon

How do you get 488 instead of 485???

Ell.

I am wondering too why the total is 488? preocupado.gif

I think this has something to do with the chances that you draw a blood moon card.

Still, i don't understand, why you would increase the total with 3 cards..

Okay, I'll go home and recheck (work late tonight) but I added only adventure cards. Including the Blood Moon. No other decks from other boards, etc.

If I am wrong, I will apologize and post my revised count.

-Oberon (sorry in advance)

When I went through the previous and Blood moon instructions, it lists the amount of cards. Going through each set of instructions I count 377 Adventures cards, which, when the new Blood Moon is added in (111) gives 488. Like I said I will recount and apologize for my error, but

111 cards to 377 to me means that there is a little over 3 non Blood Moon cards to each blood moon.

so, on average, about every 3.something cards… is a Blood Moon expansion set card - to my figureing.

therefore, I say it is a good ratio of Blood Moon (and therefore day/night triggers etc.)

does this make sense? -Oberon

I understand what you mean.

And you are right that there is a chance for a blood moon card after every 3 cards.

I am sure that we will reach 600 cards next year..gran_risa.gif

Well I don't want to keep dragging this on, but I am sorry, I have a miscount, as I see it:

Blood Moon = 111

Sacred Pool = 72

Highlands = 12

Frostmarch = 84

Dungeon = 10

Reaper = 90

1st/Basic = 104

I'm counting a total of 483 cards. If you guys have not added any, home brews, replacements, whatever, this is what is listed as components for each set/expansion set. Does not include 'other' cards, Dungeon, Highland, various other small sets.

-Oberon

That is correct Oberon, there are 483 currently in the boxed sets of Talisman, but there were two bonus cards made available as a pre-order bonus when The Reaper was released, taking the total to 485.

The effects of the Doppelganger and Instructor cards have been repeated in the game, but completists will always like to have their trinkets!

Now and again, there is the opportunity to win a pair of these on Talisman Island…

I am wondering if a character really wants to be cured…

Getting a +2 to the attack roll in the night feels like a blessing:)

The only downside is that a character should stay away from other characters, if he is too weak to fight them.

I would have to agree that there is very little down side to becoming a Lycanthrope, unless of course you happen across the Peasant Mob, in which case you are killed!

It would be rather simple to spice it up a little by taking a cue from the Time Card.

He gets a +2 to his combat scores during the Night, so it would be easy to just treat him as a "special" creature and give him a -2 to his combat scores during the Day.

If you didn't want to be so harsh, you could just take it as a -1 during the Day like on the Time Card.

Nice and simple, and being a Lycanthrope isn't quite so much fun any more! cool.gif

I agree Jon.

Day -2/ Night +2

Ell.

Interesting about the -2 during Daytime.

I was thinking of adding a penalty for Lycanthropes - such as losing a 1 Life at each Daybreak (or maybe the choice of losing Life, Strength, Craft, or Fate).

Is it possible to become cured, or once transformed, are you stuck a Lycanthrope forever?

Hi

I haven't tried the expansion yet but from what I have read and seen, It's clearly obvious that they want to create more player interaction which is a good thing. The downside I see with being a lycan is that you can't take objects from other players when you win a fight so it's not that good to be a lycan in my mind. Also you can't use your own chars specials if I understand this correct. meaning if you are for example vampireress you can't steal followers etc.

To you guys that have the expansion how can you get rid of being a lycan?

Being Toaded cures you for one!

I was looking at the Werewolf Chart again, and i am wondering what would happen if you roll 2 times a 2 on the chart. Does that mean that you need to roll for the third time, because it says that you must roll again.. ?:)

That's how we interpret it.

I lost 3 three lives due to 3 consecutive rolls of "2", and then was killed when "attacked by a werewolf" at night.

One encounter wiped my relatively healthy character out of the game!

That´s interesting.

The werewolf is a dangerous foe on the board.

I wonder if most players will decide to go to a region board, if the werewolf and the reaper are together in the outer region.

I think it´s not safe anymore. Or do you still stay in the outer region, with those killers around you:)?

We try to stay a safe distance away from the NPCs (especially when they are close together), which might encourage us to move into other boards / regions, but it's not the sole factor in determining where we go.
