quick question:
if you bounce a character with a dupe(s) attached via Gaston Grey.
-can the dupe save?
-or do the dupes get discarded and one copy goes to hand
-or do all copies get bounced?

the controller of the chosen character can chose to either save with a dupe, or discard all dupes and return the character to hand.

So a dupe can save a character to being put on the top of the deck too?

I was going to ask this exact question, except in regards to Fiery Kiss. It states
"Response: After Fiery Kiss comes out of Shadows, choose 1 non-Army Baratheon character in your dead pile and put it into play. That character gains vigilant until the end of phase. At the end of the phase, discard that character if it is still in play."
If I duplicated a character after I put it into play from my dead pile, could I just discard the duplicate at the end of the phase? Based on what was said already, I think so, but confirmation would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You actually cannot do this.
End of the Phase framework windows do not have a Step 2 Save/Cancel Response opportunity and do not have a Step 5 for normal Response opportunities. Therefore, there is no chance to save characters if they are removed from play by a lasting effect at the end of the phase.
But you wouldn't have to discard ANYthing at the end of the phase. Once it becomes a duplicate, it ceases to be a character. So when the card looks for "that character", it won't find anything, and you won't have to discard.

But that isn't what he asked.

He asked about duping a character after he put it into play from his dead pile. Potentially this could be done at the beginning of the marshaling phase with Fiery Kiss by grabbing a unique dead character. Then when it's your turn to marshal, toss a dupe from your hand on that character. At the end of the phase, the dupe won't be able to be used to save that character.
Besides, there are only a few cards that can cause such a scenario to exist(Rhaeny's Hill, Visenya's Hill to name two) where Fiery Kiss will be putting a dupe into play from the dead pile and will not be discarded at the end of the phase like you described.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. FK is still a good card, though.

The only thing dupes can't save from (except effects that say "cannot be saved", of course) is going to Shadows.

The second only thing is the removal from the game.
So its wierd Drowned Prophet ability indicates "cannot be saved".

Of course, if you do, then the "returned to deck" save in the rules is worthless because there is no vanilla "return to your deck" effect. They all refer to top, bottom, shuffle, etc.
So I would say the listing in the rules is not, and should not be, considered "all-inclusive" and read so narrowly as to make the "return to deck" rule meaningless. There is no difference between "returned to deck" and "returned to the top of the deck."
