The Enemy Within is coming to 3ed, it's official!
This is very good news. There had been a lot of speculation that FFG were going to release a "Storm of Chaos" campaign and that sounded rather too combat focused for my liking. If this one sticks to the spirit of the original it should be good. However, I am hoping that it doesn't stay too close to the story of the original as that is sitting on my shelf and I really don't need a second copy.
I am a little concerned that we have a 1st quarter and 3rd quarter product announced with nothing in between.
Having never played the original, I'm looking forward to this.
As far as nothing announced between quarters, I could see another few POD packs.

It is noted to be 30 nights worth. I think The Gathering Storm was indicated to be about 10. We finished it in 3 nights. Hopefully we get a bit longer campaign ![]()

TGS is about 40 hours of play for us, about 4 sessions. That would mean TEW3 would be about 12 of those sessions. Not really comparable to the old behemoth of a campaign that the original was. Still looking forward to it though ![]()
More than long enough for our group, actually. To be honest, I'm a bit worried it might be too long. We never got to finish The Thousand Thrones when one of the players moved to another city. Is it because we're all turning 30 and settling down? I don't know, but it's getting harder to keep campaigns going. I reallly want this to work out, though.
This is the bit I like the best:
While writing for this new Enemy Within campaign, I took particular care to ensure that the adventures would be easy for an experienced GM to adapt to the first or second edition rules.
I have nothing against the third edition -- in fact I've still not played it -- but I do like the second edition a lot. My group has been wanting to play The Enemy Within for a long time, but since a number of us have played or run parts of it before it always seemed a bit awkward. This remake looks like it will allow us to sidestep that issue. ![]()
