Hey Guys,

When I sacrifice a development and then put it into my graveyard, what is the development now considered as, if it was a unit, would it then be considered that a unit has entered the graveyard or is the card considered to be blank until after it has entered the graveyard?

A card leaves play as whatever it currently is, but it enters the discard pile as what it really is, what is printed on the card.

If you put a unit facedown as a development and sacrifice it, this does not trigger "when a unit leaves play" effects since it is a development leaving play, not a unit. It does however trigger "when/after a unit enters your discard pile" effects. In the discard pile it can be the target of Raise Dead or other effects that target units there.
