Stained Honor vs split cards

By Cascade2, in UFS Rules Q & A

Stained Honor states:

R Commit: After you make a control check, give that check -X. If that check is successful, the next time you attempt to play an attack or action this turn, the control check to play gets +X. X may not be greater than 5.

How does this work with cards that have either a split action or split attack side that are played as blocks?

Can you block with a random card, use Stained Honor to give the check modification, then make your next block with a split action or attack side, declaring that you are using the action/attack side as the block, and still get the check boost from Stained Honor?

Short answer: Yes.

To be precise, you can block with either side of a split card that has a block on it. When you block with the split it only counts as being that card type. So you can block the first attack, stained honor, then block the second attack w/ a split actiong or attack side w/ a CC boost from SH.

Note that you wouldn't get the bonus if you blocked the second attack w/ the foundation side of a split Foundation/Attack.
