Where to go from here...?

By Benjamin Beerg, in Rogue Trader Gamemasters

Hey, so I have reached a point where I can't seem to figure out what to do next. So, the trip begins with the RT and all his "underlings" (for lack of a better word), have found an extremly profitable sector that is ruled by a Baron who mannaged to over thow Imperial rule and controle this enitre sector with an iron fist. I had the idea of having the Baron begin to raise prices and begin to do a manner of other things to restrict trade in the sector. And this is where I seem to be stuck, so if anyone has some ideas on this or other suggestion, please let me know asap, becuse my group is chomping at the bit to get another secion going. And again thank you for any imput.

If he's overthrown Imperial rule, then the Rogue Traders are free to do whatever they like to his sector - bomb hive worlds, drop virus bombs on agri worlds, sabotage his commercial fleets, piracy... he and his entire sector are now traitors. Of course, there might be some loyalists here and there they can team up with.

It's the Rogue Traders duty to shut this guys down. If it was once part of the Imperium the Navy and Gaurd are going to want some justice the Imperium doesnt take decension lightly and exmples have to be made.

Heads will roll, and your players should be on the front lines.

Or the Rogue Trader could organise a coup, by buying out the Barons generals. In one fell swoop they've brought a whole sector back to the imperium and with it the wealth of dozens of star systems to themselves.

Or you could just sit back and see what your players want to do. Let them respond to the situation as they see fit.

Thank you for the imput, I will pry let them have a feild day with it. Thank you all for your imput.

As has been said, the group has lots of options. One of which is to team up with the Baron. If he isn't completely insane, he'll realise that he needs weapons and other resources to fight off the inevitable Imperial backlash. A corrupt Rogue Trader would be the perfect way to get a supply line going. It could be very profitable if the group were willing to take the risk of being caught. And of course, they could backstab the Baron with sabotaged weapons (say macrocannons for orbital defenses that blow up after the first volley) for less profit factor (no long term sales) but some cred with the Imperium and an easier conquest of the system for themselves.

You, my friend, have just handed your group one of the most profitable of storylines! And not a short one, either. This may well be a good time to pull out a meta-objective (Uh... I want to say Lure of the Expanse, but I might be wrong) where the group slowly invades and takes over the Barony.

What I'd be doing here is designing a dozen or so worlds, working otu warp routes between them, how loyal they are, what military/ecconomic/criminal/ecclesiarchal locations there might be on each world, tehn have thr group organise the resources and allies to crusade into the area and take the thing back. Lots of epic battles, political intrigue and kickass set pieces!

Second the meta endeavour call.

Your players could work towards reclaiming the entire sector for the Emperor, making a tasty profit enroute of course.

Break it down

1) forment disloyalty

2) weaken the Barons hold via piracy, religion, etc

3) remove certain powerful allies of the Baron

4) seek allies to bring into the dispute

5) military strikes on the Barons forces

6) political/economic attacks on the Barons holdings

7) invasion/war!

8).......

9) Profit!

I would like to thank all of those who posted, thanks for the imput. This will be the best series of games ever, thank you guys/galls very much for your imput. I really do apreciate it. Thanks.
