Rolling a zero.

By Guest, in Rogue Trader Gamemasters

Everytime my players roll a 100 on a d100 they insist that it should count as a zero the best possible roll. I showed them the rule in the book and yet they insist that a d100 should roll between 0-99 not 1-100.

They argue with me everytime and their grumbling is irritating how can I get them to see reason?

In every porcentile system I've know 0 + 0 equals 100 (because, you know, a d100 goes from 1 to 100 in the same way d10 goes from 1 to 10 or a d6 goes from 1 to 6). If your players are morons I don't know what I or anyone else on the Forums can tell you to change their minds, save that you should look for less moronic players.

1. Grab the Rogue Trader rulebook.

2. Open the rulebook at page 10.

3. Point to the table at the bottom right, which gives as one of the examples "0" and "0" as 100.

I know 1, Top Secret/SI from TSR... 00 was the best roll of the game with 99 the worse

Interesting. Today I learned something new (well, actually old =P). Thanks for the information!

Although that system seems to be more of an exception than a rule on how percentile rolls work on most games.

I showed them that, they want me to make rolling a zero a house rule I said over my dead body.

If they're going to be like that, let them. But have it apply to d10s as well- a 0 is a 0, not a 10. And unless they've got something to expand Righteous Fury range, that means they can't roll it (you can't roll a 10 if your dice go from 0-9).

You could still roll RF... and add unlimited zeros to your damage! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!

BTW, ieatdeadpeople, if your players are so stubborn and you are not having fun, you should really check for a new group. You should be GM to have fun, not do it as a sacred duty. You coudl also try to talk to them and tell them you are not having fun if they keep to annoy you like that. If they still act like morons, that's a true sign to start searching for a new group.

Brilliant!

I love my players. Their awsome
