Can you daisy chain Assault of the Kraken?

By dcdennis, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

With a character like The Knight that stands itself, can you do 4 power challenges in a row so long as you win them all UO?

yep, alternatively you can just play them all off of the first unopposed challenge

Are you asking if you can DECLARE 4 power challenges? Because the answer is no. You can only declare 3 challenges per phase, one of each type.

While he didnt mention it in the actual post, his question is in regards to chaining multiple "assault of the kraken" together (see thread subject). not, "can i forego int and mil challenges to get extra power challenges".

Now if you're trying to be picky with words and say that the built in challenges are "declared" and those granted by "assault of the kraken" are not... well thats not the case either.

But then they couldn't all be the "next challenge you initiate".

But if the next challenge you initiate is the one copy #1 lets you do, the next challenge you initiated after playing events #2 or #3 were not the ones they gave you, so you do not meet the "this additional challenge must be the next challenge you initiate" requirement listed on the event, so you will lose the opportunity to declare those challenges.

In short, playing more than one Assault of the Krakens after a single challenge is a waste because you will not be able to meet the "next challenge" requirement for all of the events.

Not to get into another semantic argument, but challenges are "initiated," not "declared." During the initiation of a challenge, you "declare" the type, opponent, and participating characters, but challenges are considered initiated (by declaring those things).

Ultimate answer to the original question is that yes, there is nothing wrong with playing Assault of the Kraken after winning a challenge that you were able to initiate because of playing another copy of Assault of the Kraken.

Thats what i get when i stop reading a card after a bracket :/
