2 Champs and a Chump Episode 53- The Brett and Will Show!

By Kennon, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Here we are guy s, a special treat this week! Also, make certain that you check out CardGameDB each week for columns and commentary on a variety of topics, as well, I have it set to post the podcast blurb as a headline each Friday!

Pretty bad show. No actual content. I'm not good enough to invest in flying to a tournament so that didn't really interest me. Aaaand a combo that doen't work. And discussion of Star Wars. I fell asleep in the middle somewhere. Literally. Could you label the shows with no content so I can skip?

Sorry, I am just really not a banter fan.

Ah well, you can't win 'em all. Some folks like banter, some don't, but I know that there would have been quite a bit of wondering if we hadn't spoken about the change to FFG's OP. As well, I hope that there are FFG folks listening to the show here and there that might be able to glean some information on what we as players would like to see as part of the OP improvements.

And in general, we do try to keep most of the long off Thrones topics in the Props and Slops segment that occurs at the end of the show that those of our listeners who want to hear as little about things other than Thrones as possible can feel free to turn the episode off as soon as they hear us declare the Props and Slops segment open.

Sorry this episode wasn't your cup of tea, but thanks for listening, and check back with us in the future, as I'm sure the pendulum is likely to swing back the other direction as well.

I have listened to all 53 Episodes. :-)

I don't think you need to be this blunt, Will. I'm sure everyone knows just which way you and Zeiler swing.

And now, having watched Sherlock, I really want to make some ironic comparison. But then I'd have to shatter the parallelism by drawing Greg into the mix. :)

Did Kennon mention he watched Sherlock the series not just the movie in the pod cast....i though they only talked about he movie ( I sent mail telling them to check it out with a few other good series)....pfff what i get for listening to the pod cast on the walk home from the bar...

Uh, im not sure you even have to stand the watch tower. Since it doesn't say "the next time the card is played or revealed" doesn't it go off every time the card is played or revealed?

In before people start screaming to nerf the watchtower and leave robert alone.

EDIT: uh... symantics, but its come up before... but since it is satin doing the revealing arent you revealing the card not your opponent which is the requirement of the watchtower...

I think last time it was game of cyvasse, even though your opponents are choosing and kneeling, it is still your effect, so technically you knelt those characters not them... So in this case, you revealed their cards, not your opponent(s).

I have a "should have would have"......

Steelshank Reserves + head of the dwarf in melee . The reserves goes to the active player where every power he claims goes to the reserves.....problem? they are no attachments xD.

Agree with oshi, i think you claim one power each time it's revealed. And the card (satin) says you reveal each players top card so it still wouldn't work.

Actually considering the circumstances I thought you guys stayed on topic better than I would have expected. Even though I cant play in the tournaments I thought some of the spit balling of ideas for FFG was kind of interesting - which got me thinking - how many people would work on a game like agot, the ideas you suggested seemed pretty simple but is it just a case of too few people having to worry about the support of so many different products?

That's a pretty valid question. I know the design team consists of......... Damon. And of course they use volunteer playtesters. Aside from that, I get the impression that all of the related departments (Art, Marketing, Organized Play) don't have anyone devoted to a single game or project, so manpower may indeed be an issue.

I really liked what you guys were saying about the league kits and organized play. I hope they move more in that direction.

I would love to see some cool metal (not plastic) gold tokens. I've been on the lookout for some good metal tokens, but haven't found anything.

I also think that having alternate art cards is a great idea. I don't know how much of a hassle licensing with HBO would be, but having an Eddard Stark or Jamie Lanninister card with an img from the show would be an amazing prize.

Upgrading Worlds without having a solid grassroots, local-meta level organization is kind of putting the cart before the horse. There is a huge intrest in AGOT right now because of the show, but I don't see FFG capitializing on it. I ran a Learn to Play AGOT event at a local gaming convention last month and it was a huge success. Most of the people who signed up didn't even know the game existed, but liked the show and came to check it out, and most of them really liked it.
