Escape from Dol Guldur (Solo Player Living Tournament)

By juicebox, in Player community

Hi Fanfan,

Welcome!

For now I've posted your 117 result, but please confirm that's correct.

There was a lot of conversation after your initial post, and I want to make sure I'm reflecting your reported score accurately.

Thanks,

juicebox

yes, I confirm the 117 score (I am not sure if I played 5 or 6 complete turns in game 3, so let's say 6). Otherwise I scored a 109-136-116 series more ecently with the same deck.

Thanks for including me in! I may start running for a few spots in the list!

Game 1: elrond prisoner. dol guldur solo without the agent smith…OK I'm screwed: that is what I thought initially… but playing i found out that the deck works pretty well even without him. In this quest light of valinor and unexpected courage are your best friends!!!

game 2:beravor prisoner. double jailer in set up! i lost only one quest… but with 2 objective cards reshuffled back! thanks god i drew them both again in a reasonable time…I tried to minimize combat to avoid dealing shadow cards untill the objectives were found again.

game 3: glorfindel prisoner. probably the worst scenario possible for this deck. glorfindel enables blue cards and also is the main beater (along with gandalfs). ironically I obtaine dthe best score with him prisoner, but I suppose it's only a matter of luck (vilya really helped keeping my board full of action).

I just realized i made a mistake: only completed rounds are counted for score!

so my real updated score is:

Heroes: Elrond Glorfindel Beravor

Game 1 Result: 142
Final Threat Level: 31
Threat Cost of Each Dead Hero: /
Damage Tokens on Remaining Heroes: 0
Victory Points Earned: 9

Game 2 Result: 110
Final Threat Level: 0
Threat Cost of Each Dead Hero: /

Game 3 Result: 101
Final Threat Level: 0
Threat Cost of Each Dead Hero: /
Damage Tokens on Remaining Heroes: 0
Victory Points Earned: 9
Number of Rounds Completed: 11

weighted total: 117,67

This is the absolute first time I ever defeated this scenario solo (not that I try much) and got to defeat it twice in a row (although I lost the third match).
My obvious conclusion is the following : Playing this scenario solo is a matter of sheer luck. Nothing else (the deck must be obviosly good and monosphere (bisphere's ok but you need even greater luck)) but in the end if the encounter deck treats you badly from the very beginning there's no way to win this…(getting caught in a web on one of the two remaining heroes from the very start and the likes…)…not for solo play, even with the new cycle that will expand monosphere decks.
