Herald anyone?

By talismanisland, in Talisman Home Brews

I just noticed a news update about a new miniature coming from Reaper, based on the Pathfinder RPG "Battle Herald" and wondered if the old 2nd Edition Herald might be worth a conversion to 4th Edition?

Reminded me of this guy...

Just a thought...

That's a really nice new miniature and art. It certainly would make a nice addition over all. For my group of old, the herald didn't see much play, but there's got to be others who'd enjoy it.

I like to see a official herald for 4th revised edition, but not as a master class character from 2th edition.

Maybe it could be included in a city Expansion

The Pathfinder minis are always nice, and very often have corresponding art (for home use!) and it is always nice to have a miniature that looks like the image on the card, though not always necessary.

I have my eye on a belated release of a Pathfinder Explorer, which I will use to update my old Pathfinder "hidden" card idea. (Go to Talisman Island and use the Konami code...)

It was supposed to come out in January, but has been delayed it seems... Its SKU is 60106, which is next up in the sequence!

I would also like to see the Herald as an ordinary character, as to my mind, Master Level characters didn't quite "work"...

Agreed, the so-called "master" or sometimes "second level" character idea doesn't work in Talisman. There are already some potency problems with certain standard characters. This was also sometimes the case in 3E and 2E. Those master overlays compounded some other issues as well.

But... a basic "Battle" Herald (which is almost an oxymoron) could be a fun addition. And as Velhart suggests, converting the Herald and other old master overlays into real characters would be a great idea for any update to the City expansion.

Here's a version that Peter (azoic) sent to me which I will put on the site after the weekend.

It's based on the French magazine version of the Herald, instead of the Master Level one.

It's not a bad character. he starts with 2 /4 and 3/4 with a sword.

Follower stealing ability is also good.

Maybe that FFG can make him more interesting if it ever comes out in the future.

I rather play with the knight who begins with 4/3 and 5/3 with sword and armour. happy.gif

I think adding the sing ability from the master class Herald, makes him very original and more special.

Taking a Follower is just copying the Sorceress and Vampiress ability. More thought is needed for him and singing of deeds is more apt an idea!

Ell.

He could have a chance to boost the morale of his followers into battle.

___________
