Are the responses on Titan's Bastard optional or do they resolve when the requirements are met? Also, If I have a duplicate and an opponent plays Valar Morghulis, can I discard the duplicate to save my character? Lastly, does the equipment attached to a go to the discard pile whenever attached character dies? Thanks in advance,

1. Once the criteria for the Response is satisfied, the decision of whether or not to trigger the Response effect is made by the current controller of the card.
2. Yes, since the text on Valar Morghulis does not specifically prevent saves. Compare to Wildfire Assault.
3. Yes, attachments normally become separated from the character during the resolution of any condition that kills or discards that character. Anytime attachments leave play in this manner, they go to the discard pile.

No triggered effect, including Responses, is ever required. Anyway, one of his Responses puts him into play from your hand. How would your opponents make sure you used it if you were required to?

Of course. Valar kills characters, dupes save characters fro being killed. Was there any particular reason you thought you couldn't save the character from being killed by Valar?

From the definition of attachment cards on pg. 5 of the rule book:
"Attachments are discarded from play if the card they are attached to leaves play for any reason (such as being killed, discarded, or returned to your hand or deck)."
. Was there any particular reason you thought you couldn't save the character from being killed by Valar?
None, other than inexperience with the game. Thanks again for clearing that up.
