It has been a while since I last posted about one of my decks, and whilst I have built some decks for other houses, Lannister will always capture my heart.
I have abandoned my PBTT deck, partly because one of friends is giving it a go and so two different versions of that agenda will not go down well, but also because I think at events more people will also try it whilst less Lannister players will build a Knight deck.
So, the principle behind the deck is taking the strengths of Lannister such as gold production and kneeling and combine it with the wider spread of icons from the knights. The deck is built for Joust, although I think it could stand up well in Melee even with the reduced effectiveness of more opponents to try and kneel. It has only been used a couple of times in a casual environment, so there is room to tweak. Everything that is in triple format is available for the deck, although I only own two copies of the core set. One area of weakness I see is how there is only one Knight below cost 3, although the Mimes can mitigate this.

Reasoning for choices:
Loyalty Money Can Buy - Decent gold and allows me to a turn to build up early game without the concern of suffering Claim, as will likely only be Claim 1 plots played by my opponent early on.
Hear Me Roar - Whilst more of my characters lack Intrigue compared to a normal Lannister deck, I feel there are still enough characters with it to not be a downside for me, whilst still being one of the highest gold production plots and will hurt more of my opponent's characters than my own.
Wildfire Assault - I have been tempted to make a deck without any form of character removal, but until I feel confident enough to, I will use this. I prefer it over Valar as I still have a Claim of 1 and it prevents characters from being saved, whilst making it likely I can play a good character from hand even if I have no other gold boosting cards in play.
Tourney for the Hand - Good Initiative, a nice effect, and pretty much a staple for a Knight deck. Also helps protect my characters from frusting character abilities, like Jaime being blanked by Meera Reed, for example.
You Swore an Oath - Whilst I don't think Joust will be that amazing for me, not kneeling to defend with my Knights whilst having a decent gold and average Initiative makes this another auto pick for a Knight deck.
Retaliation! - I like having two Claim 2 plots in my deck, and this is often my first pick due to the gold.
Mutual Cause - My second Claim 2 plot, and because it is a Joust the effect doesn't happen. Whilst I could pick a different plot, it offers me the most gold and Initiative without penalising me in any way [such as Siege of Riverrun].
Lannisport Moneylender - The classic Lannister gold income, and gives me Intrigue which is never bad.
Lannistport Councilor - Is being used over the Weaponsmith, as I get enough Military with the Knights, which is normally lacking in a typical Lannister deck. Instead helps me make token defence against Power challenges, or try and make a cheap attack.
Campfire Mime - So long as I have one real Knight out, they allow me to increase the amount, whilst giving Strength 2 and bicons. Also handy with Ser Kevan, although they make Joffrey's static ability useless.
House Payne Enforcer - Such a potent card, and if I defend with Bronn they get even more worrying for my opponent. Ideally they will only issue Intrigue challenges, as Deadly seems wasted with a Military challenge.
Ser Kevan Lannister - Being a new card he is untested for me. However, he is my cheapest Knight with above cost Strength. Whilst he only has Intirgue, so long as a Mime or Joffrey is around, he gets Power icon too.
Syrio Forel - I love him so much. Stealth, bounces back to the shadows, only risk is his Ally trait.
Joffrey Baratheon - Honestly, he is in here as filler, But I like the idea of trying him out, as he will slowly get bigger and has bicons compared to his PotS variant for the same cost.
Corrupt Contender - A Knight, but has below average Strength. However, for those challenges when I really need to push things through, I can use his character ability to virtually guarantee that I win, at the cost of him being discarded after.
Arrogant Contender - Another Knight, but with better Strength and the same bicons as the Contender, whilst having Melee. I don't think his ability will happen often, but there is no downside to it.
Ser Jacelyn Bywater - Jacelyn is an interesting, if conflicting character. Being immune to character abilities means I want to keep him around, as he is a bicon Knight with average Strength, yet his Response relies on him being killed. I imagine the most common time he dies will be from Valar.
Ser Arys Oakheart - The only way he could get better would be if he was Tricon, as his Response helps with board control without the enforcement if it would hurt as with Varys, has Renown and can't have non-weapon attachments played on him, all whilst being a Knight too.
Ser Balon Swann - His constant ability to defend Intrigue even when kneeling allows me to either defend a Military challenge even if an Intrigue challenge can still happen, or attack knowing I still have some defense left.
Ser Gregor Clegane - The Mountain lives up to his name with this version, not only with his Strength 4, but by also denying the option for my opponent to save their characters whilst he is attacking without the limitation of him being the only attacker.
The Hound - Whilst he isn't a Knight, knowing that he is the only Hound without any downside whilst never truely dying, and having Melee to help raise his Strength to average or better made him an include in the deck. I just have to remember that he isn't a Knight when using him...
Ser Jaime Lannister - My favourite version of Jaime, and has three copies to both increase the chance of him turning up, and to give him duplicates to make his Infamy worthwhile. Locking down a non-Army character each turn at the price of kneeling him is great, and with Infamy it means I can discard them instead.
Bronn - Tricon Knight with defensive version of Deadly just screams amazing to me. Being an Ally who costs 4 gold does worry me, but theres little I can do about it unfortunately.
Shadowblack Lane - With 18 characters having Intrigue, this should happen almost every turn.
Street of Steel - 17 characters with Military, still enough to justify the space in the deck.
Street of Sisters - 13 characters with Power, so whilst it is the lowest, as it is over a third of my characters I feel it will get used enough to be worthwhile.
River Row - Ideally turning up in setup so it wouldn't kneel, knowing this works on any of my characters ensures it will be used every turn.
The Goldroad - Standard income location.
Lannisport Brothel - An auto-include for every Lannister deck I will ever build, and likely for most if not all other Lannister players. Making sure some troublesome character gets locked down once they kneel [and can generally make it happen] means even if I can't kill them, they won't bother me anymore.
Lannisport Tourney Grounds - Even with less then the normal amount of Intrigue for a Lannister deck, I should be able to win an Intrigue challenge. I also have 10 unique characters, so I think the secondary effect is unlikely to happen, but still has a possibility of happening.
The Iron Throne - One of the most amazing locations ever made, and reinforces the controlling nature of Lannister. Plus, against another Lannister player it means we can negate each other, as I would dread to see their copy when mine wasn't built into the deck.
Golden Tooth Mines - Guaranteed card draw every turn, non-unique and no cost other than revealing my plot? I was able to borrow a spare copy from a friend to push this up to the maximum.
Casterly Rock - Another untested card, partly in here to try it out, but also because I like the idea of making all of my unique Lannister characters gain stealth. The 3 gold cost does concern me however.
King's Landing - It may be pricey, but giving me further options for card draw, and with Syrio to allow me to use this more than once a turn.
Condemned by the Council - I loved this card in my Shadow deck, and amazingly one that few people seemed to know exist when I would play it. Allowing me to get rid of a troublesome location seems essential in my mind.
You've Killed the Wrong Dwarf - Allows me to kneel a character in any phase, at the price of giving that character a power, so either prevents an opponet's character from being useful, or to give myself the last push of power that I need.
I'm You Writ Small - Surprise Deadly has given me the edge so many times, and I would use it even if it didn't have the lingering effect of becoming a +2 Str attachment on a character on top.
Insidious Ways - For times when I haven't had any card draw, this allows me to make a profit of 1 card whilst also getting a Strength boost when attacking to increase my chances of winning.
The Lion's Will - With the gold production of the deck, I feel I should often have the gold required to play this, whilst also safe in the knowledge it can't be stopped with Paper Shield.
Muster - For turns when I have the gold to get a character I need, or a duplicate for Jaime, this helps with the consistency of the deck.
Increased Levy - As Maesters are becoming less common locally [only myself and one other in a 24 strong tournament], I felt I could risk putting this in my deck, which replaced Sunset Sea from my draft build.
That's everything, hopefully it has been a good read for you all, and I look forward to any feedback or general discussion you wish to have about my deck.
