Cotter Pyke Misprint

By AceManUSC, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Did anybody else get a Trial by Combat chapter pack with misprinted Cotter Pykes? The trait says " onborn. " LoL.

That appeared to be the buzz going around agotcards.org. I just got mine last night but did not open it to check that yet.

Yes, I got a pack last week with that misprint

Ohhhh, does that increase the value? Back when I collected baseball cards (for those of you in Europe, it's like Cricket but the game actually ends) misprints increase the value, I'm going to create a secondary market darn it! gran_risa.gif

Hmm, can I sell you my Maeser Cressen then?

or free man as WildING not WildLING

~ (but not ~) I assume we'll need this in the FAQ to avoid sticklers pointing them out at Regionals? :/

I would hope no one would be dumb enough to think it's not a misprint. SandSnake vs Sand Snake. NO THAT'S A DIFFERENT TRAIT!

When I sent in to FFG about the two spellings of Ser Axell/Axel Florent and Jhalabar/Jalabhar Xho, Nate said he would make a note to include an errata in the next FAQ. I'm sure they're already aware of these trait misprints, but it couldn't hurt if someone wants to send them in just to make sure they're on FFG's radar.

Of these, Cotter Pyke is definitely the most in need of an errata. No one but the world's most insufferable player would object to the difference between Wilding and Wildling or Sand Snake and Sandsnake, but I could see players not even being exactly sure what is meant by "Onborn." The intent is clear but it's been bungled so bad you have to address it.

I agree it needs to be addressed, but also think players that would object to the identity of the card with an obvious misprint(it's even missing a capital letter to start the Trait! " onborn. ") need to reevaluate their personal life and perhaps need to get their brain scanned for proper size, shape, coloration, and electrical activity.

We all know that Greyjoy is full of Ironborn synergy. We all know there are a lot of "Sand Snake." and only one "SandSnake." We all know that "Wildlings." have an entire theme and that "Wilding." does not.

Also, I'm sure those that read the books are the best resources to know that Cotter Pyke is supposed to be Ironborn etc etc etc.

Whoopee!!

Don't forget Jhogo the Do hr aki, just you try bring that up when someone claims all attacking characters are dothraki.

I smell a themed deck idea brewing. It's going to be Legan........

Unfortunately FFG has already set a horrible precedent when it comes to printing mistakes. Recall the misprinting of the Abandoned Fort where in the Euro cards it said "...attacking or defending..." but in the USA cards it only said "...attacking...". FFG ruled that these were no different than two different versions of a unique char. So if someone wanted to be a dickhead about it, and the world championship was on the line, I think a TO would have to rule that "onborn" does not equal "ironborn". Whether or not a player would actually attempt that argument I highly doubt, but I don't doubt what the ruling would be.

I think that there's a huge difference between spelling errors and grammatical errors for this context.

The FFG article with Cotter Pyke on it specifically advertises his card that has him with the Ironborn trait as well. They really need to put these in the FAQ as errata as soon as possible because if tournaments mean anything to anyone, then it's retarded to delay corrections.

Did you mean Frozen Outpost? I have not heard of the text difference you are speaking of so that is interesting to me.

I tip my hat to your commitment to finish the line... Even though you spelled the first initial part of the word incorrectly.
