Leona Life Deck (Block 3)

By quarzark, in UFS Deck Building

I guess I should say that this is rather a Leona control/tank Life deck with Earth kill moves, but that's too long a title.

Life control? not really all that farfetched if you think about it. Life is printed on a lot of amazing control pieces in block 3, it just so happens that other symbols *cough*Order*cough* are currently better then life. What does this symbol have that order doesn't though? Rejection, Revenant's Calling, Tough Outer Shell and an 8HS character that can run Tiger Fury. Here's the pre-testing deck list.

Characters:
1x **Leona** 6/6 +0M (Earth/Fire/Life)

Attacks (8):
4x Tiger Fury 7/3 +1M (Earth/Fire)
4x High Plasma Beam 4/3 +1H (Earth)

Assets (8):
4x Olcadan's Mentoring 0/6 +0L (Infinity)
4x Seal of Cessation 3/3 +2L (Infinity)

Actions (10):
3x Rejection 3/5 +1L (Life)
3x Nature's Force 4/4 +2M (Life)
2x Kung-Fu Training 2/5 +1M (Fire/Life)
2x Tag Along 5/4 (Earth)

Split (4):
4x The Anti-K' 1/5/4 +3M (Chaos)

Foundations (34):
4x Distractable 2/5 (Earth/Life)
4x Forethought 1/5 +1M (Life)
4x The Spirit of Athens 2/5 +3L (Life)
4x Battle Prowess 1/4 (Earth/Life)
4x Infected 0/6 +2H (Life)
4x Revenant's Calling 2/5 +1M (Earth/Life)
4x The Gorgeous Team 3/4 +2H (Life)
4x Heidern's Assassination Arts 2/5 +1L (Earth/Life/fire)
2x Tough Outer Shell 4/5 +2M (Life)

Sideboard:
4x Will for the Fight 2/5 +3M (Earth/Life)
4x Cards that do good things, but not good enough to mainboard.

64 Cards

Basic idea of the deck is to go first, Have Anti-K' and Forethought + random foundations in hand. Spam out foundations, say go, end their turn ASAP. You go, ready, discard anything that won't let you establish board dominance. With an 8HS and CC-Hax, most decks won't be able to come close to your foundation output until you Tiger Fury them into oblivion, with an optional choice of Fweem so that you don't rely on one card. Some info on card choices:

Infected: 0/6 spam foundation. Almost totally worthless and will probably see the end of it's life in the deck somewhere along the way since it is mostly olcadan's bait in my discard pile. However, it's a high block, and is useful turn 1 and 2 when I need as many foundations out as I can get.

Tough Outer Shell: Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Amazing with Rejection for keeping her frail 14 vitality kicking. The F is also the closest thing to Armored Defense in block 3, and SHUTS Hugo down.

Heidern's Assassination Arts: big speed boost to hit them with Tiger Fury.

Revenant's Calling: Probably one of the most powerful control/anti-control pieces in Block 3. Ridiculous card, not to mention that extra R can save me from big bad Sardine Beach Special's or Defender loops.

Nature's Force: No other way to stop Olcadan's in straight life. Worth the 3 of them to get rid of other pesky assets.

Tag Along: My kill turn is off of earth, if I need to grab an extra Fweem or Tiger Fury to make it certain I kill them, I like the added recursion. Also, that R: always has a chance to come in handy.

Battle Prowess: 'Cause it keeps me alive. Another card that may see replacing if it's overkill or if I don't get to use it too often.

The deck seems solid before it goes into playtesting. Any suggestions? Also, I'm half tempted to change my win condition to something ridiculous like Chaos Flare into Single Wing Slam + Admiration and HAA.

I actually played this deck. Its really easy to play and quite effective. My only problems with the deck were super aggro decks that could hard check attacks like champs. Rejections only goes so far, especially when you have 14 life.

well I guess that's good news for me. No one in my area plays super aggro, and hasn't since we've been prepping for block 3.
