Influence Character

so my question is when there is a character who has influence such as advisor to the crown do you have to kneeel the character or an effect that requires you to kneel influence. My guess would be no but i wanted to make sure. So if i had an ambush character and wanted to use some inluence from a character that produces inluence would i have to kneel that character. thanks for any help.

An influence providing character is treated just like any influence providing location. In order to spend that influence, you must kneel them.

In response to this question are you able to kneel 1 influence and 1 gold to play an ambush? Or 2 Gold and still ambush or is this option limited to the natural order of player actions?

No. Playing a card from your hand and using Ambush to put a character into play are totally different actions. You can't choose to pay part of the Influence cost with gold when using Ambush.

There's some cards, like Plaza of Purification or King Robb's Companions, that allow you to pay some of the gold cost of characters with Influence. What Ambush does is something else entirely: It gives you the option put a card into play as an Any Phase action. The cost for this is kneeling an amount of Influence equal to the gold cost of that card . It has nothing to do with marshalling the card during the Marshalling phase.

The definition of Ambush:

"You may put a card with the 'Ambush' keyword
into play from your hand as an ' Any Phase: '
action, by paying its printed gold cost with
influence."

So a card has Ambush, you can either:

  1. Pay its cost with gold and play it during Marshaling like you would any other card, or
  2. Pay its cost with influence and put it into play as a player action in any phase

There is no option for paying some of its cost with gold and some of its cost with influence, no matter what the timing.
