Hello ,I don't know what is your opinion ,but I belive that the Dark Heresy rulebook isn't very clear ,escpecially compared to the Black Crusade one.
Hence, I have a question, rather important for an assassin: According to the latest errata,if I have the Swift attack and Two-weapon Wielder talents ,I can attack twice with one weapon and once with the other. But do I have any penalties?
Another thing, what do you think about the way buying items works ? I know that it's supposed to reflect the harsh nature of the 41st millenium but it doesn't seem logical to me that if the characters go to a shop in a warriors village they have a hard time finding a sword because they have low Fel.
So should we furnish the shops we create in adventures with weapons or do you apply the rules as stated?
Thanks,
B.Kaedran
Two-weapon fighting and market questions.
Check the eratta for 2 weapon fighting
Penalties with two weapon fighting:
main/offhand
no respective talents: -40 and -40
ambidexterity: -10/-30
Two-weapon wielder(melee or ballistic): -20/-20
gunslinger and two-weapon wielder(ballistic): -10/-10 (only with 2 pistols)
ambidexterity and two weapon wielder(melee or ballistic): -10/-10
Two-weapon wielder(ballistic), ambidexterity, gunslinger: no penalties (only with 2 pistols)
and according to the shopping:
That is always GM's fiat to decide, in the games I've played, we've had EVERYTHING available in EVERYWHERE, which is sort of stupid. But GM can also make a certain shop that has CERTAIN items there, even some services, to which the players can return to. In our game for example we have a hidden hospital there in order to fix our wounds and get medical supplies, but nothing else. We know it's there and we get what they supply.
I don't think that right. With no respective talents you MAY NOT attack with both at the same time, you must choose which weapon to use for your Attack Actions.
The penalties then are 0/-20, depending on which hand you choose to use.
Amvidextrous drops the off-hand penalty, but you still cannot make attacks with both hands.
You MUST have Two-weapon wielder to be able to pull any dual-wielding combos off, unless I am reading this wrong.
Feel free to correct me
The official errata clarifies this
except I made one mistake: the no-talent version is actually -20/-40
You are also right in one thing, having ambidexterity negates penalty of using a weapon in offhand in individual attack.
I.e. you got a pistol in main hand and sword in offhand you have ambidexterity, so you can strike with the sword at the melee enemy without penalty. You can swing and shoot too, but it is -10/-30.
EDIT: actually I checked the wording in errata, and the ambidexterity and two weapon wielder actually contradict each other, hmm not sure though.
If you have the Two Weapon Wielder talent you can hold two
weapons, one in each hand, and can make a single attack with
each. This is a Full Action, and both attack rolls suffer a –20
penalty (your off-hand weapon does not suffer the normal –20
off-hand penalty on top of this).
If you have the Ambidextrous talent but not Two
Weapon Wielder, you suffer –10 to the attack roll with
your dominant hand and –30 with your off hand.
If you do not have the Two Weapon Wielder talent and you wield
two weapons at the same time, you can use a Full Action to make a
single attack with each weapon. However, you suffer a –20 to the
attack roll with the weapon in your dominant hand and –40 with
the weapon in your off hand.
First paragraph says that Two weapon kind of allows double shooting...
second says that you suffer penalties, aka you can do it still.
third even says you can use without anything (although I doubt no-one can hit with those penalties, unless you're beating up a helpless hobo)
Of course if you have some houseruling going on then it's fine by me, This is just plain old core rules.
Core book plus errata.First adjustment is primary hand, second is off-hand.
A. No talents at all: -20, -40.
B. With Ambidexterity talent (only): -10, -30.
C. Two weapon wielder (only) -20, -20
D. Two weapon wielder and ambidexterity: -10, -10
E. Two weapon wielder, ambidexterity, and gunslinger: no penalty. Guns only.
Swift attack and lightning attack give you the nominated ammount of attacks with your primary hand, off hand is still only one attack, all at the bonuses listed above.
To use a melee weapon and ranged weapon for the above listed attack options you must have both two-weapon-wielder talents.
Note 1. I am not aware of a melee equivelent of gunslinger - this is made up for by the multiple attacks however.
This is all for using both weapons simultaneously, of course.
As for Melee, you can get +10 to WS tests by getting Best Craftsmanship weapons. There is no similar bonus to BS for craftsmanship, I believe.

So close to being comprehensive. Note, Gunslinger only applies to Pistols type weapons.

best quality also grants +1 damage on melee weapons.
on ranged weapons, one step better quality either removes unreliable or gives a reliable(if there is no unreliable) trait. buying a gun with reliable as standard gets no benefits of being better quality.
