Frey Hospitality + Deadly

By BigFreakySean, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Howdy!

I have a question that came up in a game last night. The question is how does claim from a deadly character doing an intrique challenge interacte with Frey Hospitality if the defender only defends with one character and loses? Can he use the one defender to satisfy both the deadly kill and the Frey Hospitality kill?

Also, if Shadows and Spiders is in play, and my opponenet is going to win an Intrique challenge agianst me, and I use double bluff to change the victory to something else, say a power challenge ... does that prevent them from being able to do any other challenges? Or does it still count as an intrique challenge?

Thanks!

If Frey Hospitality goes first, the defender can choose and kill their only defending character so that when Deadly resolves, there is no eligible character to kill. (Note: people do this in Deadly military challenges all the time; defend with one character, kill it for claim - which always goes first - then have no defending characters to kill for Deadly.)

If Deadly goes first, it will kill the only defending character so that when Frey Hospitality resolves, the defender will have to choose some other character they control.

And the First Player (not the active/attacking player, the first player) will always choose which of the two effects will go first in that situation, too. And they can choose differently (ie, whatever is best for them) each time it comes up. First Player has its privileges.

And what about the claim of a military challenge and deadly, e.g if my opponent attacks me with a deadly character during a mil-challange and i declare only one defender, can i use that defender for the claim or is deadly first?
