Come join us for Kingdom-Con April 13 - 15 for what is sure to be an epic AGoT event!

Kingdom-Con 2012 will be at the San Diego Crowne Plaza Hotel (2270 Hotel Circle North, San Diego, CA 92108). For information, and hotel reservation options, visit Kingdom-Con's website at www.kingdom-con.com.

3-day passes to the convention are $45 if you preregister on the website, and 1-day passes are $30. Prices will go up at the door. There will be no additional charge for any of the AGoT events.

The Melee will be Friday night, at 6pm (registration will open at 5:30pm).

The Joust will be Saturday the 14th, at 12pm (registration will open at 11am).

Both events will be using the 2012 AGoT Tournament Rules and deck restrictions.

Along with our local players, we expect to have visitors from LA, Las Vegas, Sacramento, and the SF Bay Area.

Come and join us for an awesome weekend of Thrones!

This is going to be a ton of fun, as always! Can't wait!

Is this the SoCal regional, or will that be at a later date?

Well, HOPEFULLY this will be the SoCal regional. I am sending in the application tomorrow.

Either way, we are expecting quite a big turnout.

In the past, SoCal always ran a Regional event AND a Regional was held at Kublacon, but then some loser in Los Angeles that ran these events took a THREE-YEAR break from the game and SoCal took a while to build back up. Now, SoCal is ready to host a real Regional event again!

KingdomCon is gonna rock!!!

It is on my radar...that is all I can say. It is the week after my Alumni Basketball Tourney, so might be a tough sell with the better half. But I have some chips to maybe turn in (she was in Hawaii for a week in January, and is currently in Canada skiing while I am Mr. Mom both times). lengua.gif Might ask for some floor space, since I assume I won't be sleeping much regardless.

Yup! He was even called an "a$$hole" at Gencon last year!

If they say it with a smile, its really a compliment.

Got my con ticket and room reserved... only 45 days to go! gran_risa.gif

We get to kick off the regional season!!!!!

The joust on Saturday 4/14 is now officially a regional event.

Update:

Badges are still available online ($45 for 3 day, $30 for 1 day). After April 6th, online registration will be closed and tickets can be bought at the convention at a slightly higher price.

And we will require deck lists for Saturday's Regional, so get there early.

For those of you driving down tomorrow for the melee, please drive safe!

I would try to be in San Diego by 4, or else commute traffic really starts to suck. Melee at 6pm!!!!

We're hoping to break 30 players for the Joust on Saturday a noon.

Gonna be a great time, let's kick off Regional season with a bang!

Congrats to the Winner of the First Regional: Mathlete!!!!

Also to the top four:

Jason (SD) -runner up

The King G (Sac)

Tiny Grimes (LA)

Top Four Houses were:

Mathlete (Martell)

Jason (Greyjoy WInter)

The King G (Greyjoy/Lannister Alliance)

Tiny Grimes (Greyjoy Maesters)

This was telling because almost 50% of the 32 players in Joust were using Stark. Stark was by far the most popular House; they were all over the place.

So, here's an official breakdown of the Kingdom-Con Joust Regional Championship...

Player's = 32

Stark = 13 (4 x KotR, 3 x None, 2 x Siege, 2 x Maester's, CoS, KoW)

Lannister = 2 (PBtIT, Alliance)

Baratheon = 2 (KotR, KotHH)

Greyjoy = 6 (4 x KoW, Maester's, Alliance)

Targaryen = 5 (2 x Maester's, KotHH, KoS, HttIT)

Martell = 4 (3 x KotHH, Maester's)

Quarter Finals (4 Greyjoy, 2 Stark, 2 Martell)

#8 Brooks Mitchell (Greyjoy Alliance) def. #1 Dan Machado (Stark Siege)

#2 John Bruno (Martell KotHH) def. #7 John Kraus (Martell KotHH)

#3 Tiny Grimes (Greyjoy Maester's) def. #6 Alex Esposito (Greyjoy KoW)

#4? Jason Larson (Greyjoy Kow) def. #5? Christian Na (Stark CoS)..... Sorry if I messed this up. I can remember who was #4 and who was #5.

Semifinals

Jason Larson (Greyjoy KoW) def. Brooks Mitchell (Greyjoy Alliance)

John Bruno (Martell KotHH) def. Tiny Grimes (Greyjoy Maester's)

Final

John Bruno (Martell KotHH) def. Jason Larson (Greyjoy KoW)

In addition to local players from San Diego, we had players from LA, Sacramento, the SF Bay Area, Chico, Las Vegas, and Utah.

Thank you to everyone that attended for making the tournament a success. Special thanks go to Ross Thompson for putting Kingdom-Con together and getting out prize support, Ryan Marsh for designing out custom house cards, James Speck for running the melee on Friday night, and FFG!

Congratulations to all of our finalists, and especially to our Champion, John Bruno.

See you in 1.5 months at KUBLA!!!!!!!

.... a restricted card run down...

Stark = 5 Fury of the Wolf, 4 Narrow Escape, 2 none, 1 Venomous Blade, 1 Fear of Winter

Lannister = 1 Fear of Winter, 1 Pyromancer's Cache

Baratheon = 2 none

Greyjoy = 5 Fear of Winter, 1 Castellan of the Rock

Targaryen = 2 Fury of the Dragon, 2 Pyromancer's Chache, 1 none

Martell = 2 Viper's Bannermen, 1 Venomous Blade, 1 Burning on the Sands

Fear of Winter = 7

Fury of the Wolf = 5

None = 5

Narrow Escape = 4

Pyromancer's Cache = 3

Fury of the Dragon = 2

Viper's Bannermen = 2

Venomous Blade = 2

Castellan of the Rock = 1

Burning on the Sands = 1

Top 8

Fear of Winter = 4

Viper's Bannermen = 2

Castellan of the Rock = 1

Venomous Blade = 1

Thanks a lot for this! Exemplary, all TOs should post detailed stats like these after their tourneys.

Interesting stats too. Atypically large amount of Stark for an American event, but not really strong results for them. A lot fewer Martell decks than I'd expected. I'm guessing the old pieces of wisdom (Europeans play Stark, Americans play Martell) are less and less valid. And what's up with Lanni? Can nobody build a competitive Lanni deck anymore? I'm convinced they're able to put out tier 1 decks.

Very strong showing by GJ yet again. Interesting that so many ran FoW and no one ran the Fury plot. I guess that means nobody ran To Be A Kraken?

Congratulations to Mathlete and to the other finalists, especially to Tiny Grimes, whom I had the honour to play a few times on OCTGN and who did tremendously well considering he only picked up the game a few months back. There's no disgrace losing against Bruno, the guy could win with a deck built by a drunk monkey the night before the event.

I want to know whats up with those 2 bara players.....no restricted????!!!! ...no narrow escape, val, or even fury....hard to digest, especially since they both probably ran TLS x3 or 2. Better luck next regional.

Question.....where all the Greyjoy decks choque ones?? even the alliance one??

Nice job all! Congrats John.

And way to go Brooks! Nice job on top 8.

I ran To Be A Kraken and Fear of Winter. Used Siege of Riverrun for the Military Battle. Made the top 8 but lost to Tiny. I'll try to post a full report later.

Ratoskr and Francisco G.: I will be writing up an analysis of the decks we saw here in San Diego for the Small Council, and I'll make sure to answer the questions you had in there!

I ran Brett Zieler's deck from the Moonboy, with changes to make it more affordable. I figured I might as well run a proven deck. The problem is Bear Island can't kill Starks and I played almost all Stark decks. Plus, a lot of people were running Knights, so I was choked on draw sometimes too if they flopped more knights. Plus I suck, LMAO.

I (Miguel) Ran Targ Burn with Pyro as restricted. My deck's focus was to recur flame kissed with brass link and LDC. I also had a summer component and ran field of fire and red warlock.

Round 1: Bruno running Martell icon removal, parting blow, and general brokenness. Took him to seven plots before my burn ran out. 0-1

Round 2: Eric Wood with Lanni Alliance to Bara. Seemed to have a focus on Deadly and 3 cost chars with a tonne of income. He won too many int challenges against me and I had nothing to play. 0-2

Round 3: Don running Bara Rush. He is a casual player and didn't put up much of a challenge 1-3

Round 4: Catelyn running the Stark Knight deck. I was able to play more chars than her and burn her out of winning mill challenges. She seemed discouraged that I had maester's Path. 2-4

Round 5: Brooks W/ Greyjoy Alliance to Lanni. Seemed to be a hybrid of kneel with greyjoy save and cancel. Brooks signature move is canceling you using his agenda with Maester Murenmure. He got control with castellan and enemy informer and killed all my stuff 2-5

Round 6: Chris (of summer is coming fame) he was running Stark Knights as well. He got ahead with chars started winning mill challenges and it was all over.

Props: I triggered Alliance every single time I could and I got all my chains off every game with only 3 maesters in the deck. Met people I have been Playing on OCTGN with. Read 400 pages of Feast for Crows on the drive there and back (reread)

Flops: I was flopping pretty good, although I had a 2 card flop one time.

Slops: San Diego is far away from San Francisco. Felt like the con (Kingdom-Con) was overpriced at 55$ for the small amount that was going on.
