If the rules state the you cannot have duplicate plots in the 7 card plot deck, why does Valar Morghulis state that it is limited to 1 per plot deck. As a new player getting ready to try and build my own decks, I am confused. Can anyone help or provide any insight?
Duplicate Plots and Valar Morghulis
Two reasons:
- First, Valar is a reprinted card from a time when you were allowed to have 2 copies of plots in your 7 card plot deck. The rules have changed since, so the "limit 1 per plot deck" is more or less a "relic" from the original environment for which it was printed.
- Second, there might, someday, be a card effect that lets you have multiple copies of plots in your plot deck. There are currently plots (like Power of Blood) that let you have 2 copies of it in your plot deck, and there have been Agendas in the past that let you have multiple copies of plots in your plot deck (kind of like how the City of Shadows Agenda lets you ignore "House X only" when building your deck). It would probably be a good idea make sure you can never have 2 copies of Valar, even if they do make more cards like the ones just described. So the "limit 1 per plot deck" may be kind of like a pre-emptive errata.
Thanks! This really helps clear things up.
