My game came yesterday and today I played for the first time!

Yesterday I received two giant packages that came from the great white north and another from my favorite miniature site. Considering I live in Chicago and it only took 5 days I got nothing to complain about. The Loots included where

-Original Core starter

-Medium Allies Assault Walker

-Light Axis Walker

-Axis Gorillas

-Axis Heavy Command

-Allies Heavy Command

There was so much to go through I only focused on the Core starter. I read through the quick start rules and felt like that wasnt enough so then I devoured the core rules afterwards. Today I took the Core with me to work and squeezed in a quick game over our lunch break. I couldnt decide who I wanted to play so I just rolled a regular d6 and called the Allies even and the Axis odds. I got the Axis and then we played the initial mission in the scenario. After we saw it only had us using a portion of our forces we just decided to bring the entire contents of the starter armies and have a good old fashion blood bath. I was pretty surprised that we only had to refer to the rules when it came to the special abilities of each unit.

In the end I nudged out a victory with the Recon team but the most impressive display of the entire game came down on my buddies final turn with his last three soldiers taking out the remnants of two squads with machine gun fire, knives, grenades, and a special ability. It was a great display but my last unit gunned him down unmercifully.

Things I learned from our first game.

-Giant Mechs can be destroyed in one volley or crazed soldiers placing bombs down.

-Lasers are awesome! I killed four soldiers with one shot! I kept rolling success after success with the same die!

-We played flame throwers wrong. We didnt know that you get to attack each adjacent enemy. Oh well.

-This game is brutal! When the blood starts flowing it doesnt stop.

-Heroes are Rad!!

It went over pretty well for our first game with the vanilla components and basic rules. I cant wait to get some more games in and paint this stuff. I play other miniature games but I have never painted tanks before so im a little intimidated by all the awesome looking weathering ive seen online. Ill post some pics whenever I get around to it. I might have to sneak in some Metal Slug inspired soldiers because that is pretty much the reason I bought the game. Im impressed overall it seems to be streamlined enough to get right to the good parts of mini wargaming and I dig that.

Welcome to the madness!

Weathering tanks is easier than it might appear, just do some "test runs" on the crates to hone the sponge technique - just remember that less is more, so don't overdo it right away.

You played right, flamethrowers only attack 1 adjacent enemy.

Stupid sloooooow website, double post.

Buy one D6 for each model in that adjacent square. Or not?

To be precise, 1D6 for each figure in the targeted unit.

If there's a lone hero sharing that square as well, he doesn't get hit.

If it's a vehicle, all you need is one hit and it's dead.

Congrats on jumping aboard.

A correction about the flames:

You don't get to attack each adjacent enemy unit with the flame throwers. What you get to do however, if and only if the flamethrower has a range > 1, is

"Flamethrower weapons that fire farther than one space inflict damage on all units in
spaces between the attacking unit and the target unit – even if the spaces
are occupied by friendly units." (page 28, revised rules)

As far as I can recall you probably have very few, if any, units lined up on your list that has a range that goes beyond 1 when it comes to the flamethrower. Check them out though, and use accordingly - it is one of the great abilities with the flames. The other one is that it ignores all kinds of cover.
