Quests and the inner region

By Stretchycheese, in Talisman Rules Questions

Okay, here's a tricky situtation. This hasn't happened in my games yet, but it could foreseeably.

Let's say you're in the Valley of Fire and about to move to the Crown of Command (CoC). Someone then casts a spell on you to fulfill a Warlock's quest (I forgot what the name of the spell was called). Does that mean you have to turn back and fulfill the quest? What if you are already on the CoC space?

Also, let's say you have a Warlock's quest, but you manage to defeat the Lord of Darkness in the Dungeon map by a significant margin and are teleported to the CoC space. Does that mean you have to leave the CoC space once you get there?

Here's how I might deal with it. I recall a rule somewhere indicating that you cannot go through the Portal of Power if you have an unfulfilled Warlock's quest. But that rule doesn't apply if you're already in the inner region. If you're already in the inner region, then you're exempt. The same goes if you are transported to the CoC via the Dungeon or to the Plain of Peril via a magical gate. If you manage to get into the inner region withouth going through the Plain of Peril somehow, then you need not turn back to fulfill the Warlock's quest.

Any thoughts?

Correction, my last sentence should say:

"If you manage to get into the inner region withouth going through the Portal of Power somehow, then you need not turn back to fulfill the Warlock's quest."

That right.

You can go through the dungeon to land in the inner region. Only the portal of power is locked if you have a quest.

You are not forced to go somewhere if you have a quest, but if you can complete it at that moment, then you have no choice, and you complete the quest immediately.

This can also happen in the inner region, when someone cast a path of destiny spell on that character. That character must immediately teleport to the warlock cave.

Even if the character is at the Crown of Command?

Oh yes! A character may not voluntarily leave the Crown of Command, but he may be forced to leave there if Path of Destiny is cast upon him or an Alternative Ending card instructs him to leave the Inner Region.

Ell.

Okay, here are my thoughts;

The "Warlock's Cave" section in the rulebook, page 17 simply states, "The Warlock will prevent any character who has accepted a quest from opening the Portal of Power until he has first completed the quest." It does not say, "You cannot be in the Inner Region if you are on a quest."

Similarly, if you were to beat the LoD by 7 with a Warlock Quest, you're not opening the Portal of Power, just going on the Plain of Peril. Same thing if you were going on the Crown of Command by beating the LoD by 8.

Additionally, just in case you have any questions, the rulebook, page 19, states, "A character wishing to pass through the Portal of Power from the Inner Region to the Middle Region does not need to open it. " This supposedly means you can freely cross from the Inner Region to the Middle Region, and therefore are not trapped and doomed if someone casts Path of Destiny on you, you don't have a Talisman, and you beat the LoD and teleported to the Plain of Peril earlier.
