New Deed set: Underhive Warrior

By Face Eater, in Deathwatch House Rules

The Imperial Fist was picked up a juve from the one of the underhive gangs of Necromunda. Even at this early age the character has seen numerous battles and would have killed several men to come to the attention of the Chapters scouts.

I Thought it would be nice to have a bit of a cross over between Necromunda and DW. Normally the Astartes life prior to becoming an Aspirant is not really taken into account. So I thought it would work best as a Deed with a cost of a hundred at best.

Underhive warrior : Goliath
Prerequisites: Imperial Fist, S 40, T 40.
Cost: 100
The character was raised by the infamous house Goliath, a house where size and strength are valued above all else. The character embodies this and as fully fledged Space Marine is one of the largest Astartes in the chapter, if not the Imperium. However, the wild upbringing has given the character a weakness in his discipline (as far as the Imperial Fists see it anyway). From their time in the gangs of house Goliath they will have the remenants of tattoos, eletroos ritual scars, scalp chemburned into mohawks (now shortened to regulation length), gene dyed hair and occassionally peircings. They also have – 5 Willpower, +5 Strength and +2 wounds.

Nice. The IF can really use some more stuff to become more interesting.

Underhive warrior : Vann Saar
Prerequisites: Imperial Fist, Int 40.
Cost: 100

Of the main houses of Hive Primus on Necromunda House Vann Saar is perhaps the most wealthy. This alone would mean nothing to the Battle Brothers of the Imperial fists but it is due to the quality of their weapons that this weath is gained. They are famous in the segment for this and their gang members have a well earned reputation for being serious minded and pragmatic. They are often recruited by Necromunda's Imperial guard because of this and sometimes they are brought to attention of the Imperial Fists recruiters as well, sucessful aspirants are seen as a massive justification of the Vann Saar's way of war. Characters with this background reduce their willpower by 5, increase their Int but 5 and gain either of the trained talants Tech Use or Trade: Technomat.

What's that trade actually used for since SMs don't need to use their trade skills to earn money. Improving weapons/gear quality or something? I think if that's the case, it's a weird carry-over mechanic from DH given the very different attitudes towards gear and how to obtain it.

Actually you got me there, I just put it in so there was an option at all for Characters that already have Tech use and it seemed appriopriate.

Alternative suggestions more than welcome.

Well my other concern is that the Goliath is...a lot better for the same price. +5 Str, +2 Wounds. -5 WP, big deal, if you go by the RAW the Fist will have a net +5; if you use homebrew then it's usually a wash since a lot of fan-Fists have +5 WP. Even a net -5 to WP isn't that big a deal in exchange for potentially boosting the SB further.

And Vann Saar doesn't give much, I mean Tech-Use is handy for sure, I'll think about what might make it better to add.

LoL.

Mr Kshatriya, all feedback welcome, I'm want to do some of the others when I work it out (some of them I don't have the foggest with what info I could get on the net) and I know some are going to more useful in most situations I'm just going for character as much as anything else. Pretty much know that +Int is only going to be hot for Techmarines (which is a no brainer, hence a useful swap for tech use would be nice) and Apothicaries but people might also go for +tactics or lore which the IF get a good chunk of.
