What are they? How did I get 65 of them? What are they used for?

Well years ago when they changed to this new site and forum, they were supposed to be used for drawings for prizes and things.

I've never heard of any winner announced.

I think the more points you have, the more likely this site will be slow or unavailable for you.

The points were supposed to be used to represent your "activity" on the boards, and back when they were doing drawing what sort of free stuff you could win. Lately, they are just a measurement of how nerdy we are (see my point total as an example).

You get points for registering (10 points), posting in a forum (5 points for first post, 5 points for first thread you create), and 1 point for each friend you have. You can also get bonus points, awarded in what seems to be a random manner though it seemed like there was a method to the madness. I would occasionally get 5 points for posting a response to a news article (and I don't think that will happen anymore as we can't post in the announcements now). Some people have received massive point boosts (Thelric received 2000 points, apparently for creating Strange Eons for Arkham Horror and the person with the most points got something like 10,000 at one point).

At the end of the day, I figure these are just forum ep's.

Very interesting. I have only 53 points. Must mean I suck at being on the forums. :-(
