All of these questions come from cards and situations in the basic set.
Question 1. "Does Not Kneel"
Some Character cards such as Ser Rodrik Cassel and Jaime Lannister have text regarding not having to kneel:
"Ser Rodrik Cassel does not kneel to defend." He also has both Military and Power Challenge icons.
a.Does this mean he can participate in multiple challenges each turn?
b. Say for example the player to your left has initiative in a four player game, can Cassel defend a Military Challenge AND a Power challenge against the same player?
c. Can he then be used to defend both of those types of challenges against the other two players as well?
d. and finally can he then participate in a challenge by kneeling for an attack during his players' turn of the Challenges phase?
It seems like this is the case but in a four player game this could conceivably allow him to participate in 7 challenges in one round.
e. Presumably the same rule then applies to Ser Jaime Lannister. "[He] does not kneel to attack or defend during a Military Challenge." So in the same gameplay scenario as above, would he be able to defend a military challenge from each of the three opposing players, then (assuming he survives) on his players turn he could initiate a Military challenge AND an Intrigue challenge (in that order?)? Is this the correct interpretation of the rules?
Question 2: Effects of keyword "deadly"
With regards to Military challenges and the Keyword "Deadly", it seems as though there is a way to sidestep the effects of deadly.
Scenario: an attacker with a current claim of 1 issues a Military challenge with a strength of 10. Two of his participating characters have the "deadly" keyword. The defender chooses to defend with one character STR of 1 who does not have the deadly keyword. Because he loses the Military Challenge the Defender must choose one character to kill.
a. If he chooses the character who participated in the battle, then the effects of deadly are nullified since it only affects participating characters, all of whom were just killed, correct?
b. If however the defending player chose to kill a character NOT participating in the current battle as his resolution to the Military Challenge then the character participating would ALSO be killed because the attacker has more participating characters with the deadly keyword. Is this correct?
c. If the defender had left the challenge undefended he would only lose ONE character, because he had no participating characters for the "deadly" keyword to effect, correct?
d. Finally the rules on deadly seem to suggest that regardless of the outcome or type (Military, Power, or Intrigue) of the challenge, if the attacker has more characters with the word deadly than the defender, then the defender must kill a participating character. So if an attacker issues an Intrigue challange with STR of 7 and the defender defends it with STR of 10, BUT the attacker had 1 character with Deadly and the defender had none, then the defender would have to kill one of his participating characters. Correct?
Question 3:"if you have more than one opponent..."
Many plot cards such as Mutual Blackmail and Mutual Enemies say " f you have more than one opponent, choose an opponent. You and that opponent cannot..." If you are playing a two player game does this mean that
a. Since you do not have more than one opponent and you cannot choose, then the remainder of the text automatically effects you and the opposing player?
b. Or since you do not have more than one opponent and you cannot choose, the card is useless and has no bearing on the round?
Question 4: Locations that can be played as attachments
Such as Lord Eddard's Chambers, or Queen Cersei's Chambers, allow you to play that location as an attachment to your house card. What is the benefit in doing this, it only seems to make it more vulnerable to abilities and cards that discard attachments from play?
Question 5: Number of Players
The basic set only allows for 2-4 players. By purchasing the expansion decks for House Martell and House Greyjoy are you able to play a 5 or 6 player game? Or are you still limited to only 4 players?
