Focused Offense (Plot Card) reads: Military Battle. You cannot declare more than 1 challenge. You cannot declare defenders. This plot's text cannot be blanked.

Assault of the Kraken (Event Card) reads: House Greyjoy only. Response: After you win an unopposed challenge, you may initiate an additional challenge of the same type this phase (this additional challenge must be the next challenge you initiate). If that additional challenge is opposed, neither player wins the challenge.

Which takes precedence? Does Focused Offense prevent the effect of Assault of the Kraken from applying this round, therefor making playing Assault of the Kraken a very moot point, or does Assault of the Kraken super cede the "cannot declare more than 1 challenge." part of Focused Offense, and allow for an addition challenge of the same type to be played that round, after winning an unopposed challenge?

"Cannot" is absolute. Always. There is no way around it.

Technically, you could play Assault of the Kraken after you win a military challenge, but when you go to initiate the new challenge - just like when you try to initiate any challenge after your first - the plot stops you.

I was actually just reading the FAQ today and noticed the "Cannot is absolute" rule. Should have put two and two together, and realized that Focused Offense would trump. Thanks.
