[SOB] Heroes flee from encounter

Hi to all,

yesterday we played the first session of the new SOB campaign and at the first encounter we found some trouble:

too much razorwings (ambush) against the party without explosion or breath weapon, so the entire party thought to jump out from the Revenge directly out of the map (because the retro of the ship is on the edge of the map).... so the question is this:

Is allowed left the ship to sailing dinghy and run away from the encounter?

I think that if is possibile the encounters are useless, because the party can deploy near to Captain's Wheel and with few movement, run away.

Having the heroes leave the map does not automatically end the encounter. Only when the last heroes are killed, the Revenge leaves the map (or the NPC ship), either ship is sunk or all enemy monsters are killed does the encounter end.

If the heroes all flee then the Revenge will be at the mercy of the current, and any monsters who are able to manner her stations. If she sinks, then the result will be a Total Party Kill, even in no heroes actually die. The heroes will lose map position, but the OL will not earn CT.

Read pg17 (fleeing) and pg 18 (possible encounter outcomes) carefully.

It is definitely allowed for the heros (or any other figure) to leave the encounter by moving off an edge of the map. However, all heroes fleeing does not end the encounter under the current rules. The encounter would continue until either the Revenge is sunk (by running into certain obstacles) or leaves the map.

This issue will be addressed in the upcoming FAQ, so watch out for it.
