Normally natural armour means that it gives no penalty for trhe beast against modern weapons. Once this armour is remove and fashioned into a suitable armor for a human it become primitive and so has penalty against moderns weapons.
So does the xenos chitin armour p 62 is primitive or not.?

questions about armour upgrades.
if i want to fashion a suit of primitive armour like a knight one with advanced material p63 does it means that i have now a knight armour whose protection is not halved againt modern weapons?
if so how it is classified? carapace armour ? enforcer armour? what can be it s protection 5,6 ?
Does the "deflective construction," " impact gel cells" , "lathe wrought", "night shroud layer p 64" "reflect coating" can be cumulated?that will give the carapace armour 6+2 agains impact damage + 1 ap for being best craftmanship + 2 against explosives and rending damage + 30
concealment test + 2 against laser?

Questions about ship.
Can the shield VII p 81 can be transformed into a warp cabable frigate?
Xenos Chitin has 5 AP and is "roughly as protective as flak or light carapace armour" so I would say it is not primitive. I browsed through tyranid critter stats and every creature over 4 AP had Improved Natural Weapons (=Natural Weapons no longer considered primitive). I'd wager this goes for their chitinous carapace too.
Primitive + Advanced materials = No longer primitive. Feudal knight plate (in DH core) has 5ap (primitive), so it would be feudal knight plate (advanced materials) 5ap (not primitive).
"The number of upgrades armour can receive is up to the GM, however in general most pieces of Armour cannot be equipped with more than three upgrades." So, normally max 3 upgrades, unless your GM says otherwise. That said, combining night shroud with reflect coating just doesn't make sense to me. How could something be at the same time reflective like a disco ball, and as dark as the night?
I guess you could remove some components from shield VII to release the space & power required for retrofitting it with a warp engine and a gellar field, but I think it just might be easier to refit an already warp capable hull from a hulked or scrapped ship.
