Great scoop.

Great episode.

heh. nice scoop.. i do wonder if ffg will ever take on content outside the empire though.

Good Episode, and better when the own guess of the two new races is right. :)

If I can make one suggestion though, some of the voices seem to come through rather metallic/thin and a bit sharp.

Would it be possible to find a way to auto-level the sound for everyone?
I don't know if this is something that can easily be filtered, since I know nothing about audio-montage, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

As for the races: yeah, I kind of figured, after I read the arguments in the threads a while back. Too bad :)

Called it on the races...

Only two rank six careers though, are we going to see more rank six careers for non-spellcasters?

One more lucky Swede with Hero's Call! gran_risa.gif No time to post, must read. Feels great so far...

I don't like the ogre race. I'd rather have seen halfling and some more humans (Estalia and brets), but I guess foreign countries can be an expansion of their own.

But I don't like the ogre.

as i have not the time to lisen to the pod cast any time soon.....what are the new races???!!!

halfing and ogre.

i like it. definitely rounds out the races though ogres would be super rare in my games.

The podcast metions ogres being able to purchase S and T at a discount .... hmm lets see what it ends up with, to be honest Im not really a fan of introducing too many highly exotic races as playable characters ... one the things I love about the empire and warhammer is that not only does the fluff state that its mainly a human thing .... but most players actually do play humans - for me having a party consist of one each of 4 different races feels too much Tolkien'ish ...I would any day prefer to have a party of 2-3 humans + 1-2 "other" ....not to mention ofcause that Ogres in previous editions were horribly broken as player characters !

There were never ogres as PC in previous editions, only as fan material ;)

I'll just add this to the ogre racial ability as a house rule.

On a chaos star you eat a random party member.

I don't like exotic races either. Dwarves are ok as they're a big part of history. Elf characters should be really rare. Ogre characters should... I don't know. Not exist. It's just too much high fantasy for me having a creature like an ogre as a player character. For me the dwarfs are already enough of a power house in terms of combat and I can't see the need for another race like it. Just imagine Ubersreik with a few ogre shop keepers, and ogre city guard and an ogre bar maiden. Gah. It may be part of the lore, but for me it just sounds horribly wrong. Ogres are wild huge men, not suitable for society or adventuring. They are good as NPCs though... they are there to be killed by real adventurers. A party having a pet ogre being played by a real person... bah partido_risa.gif

I do agree that Ogres are, at least, difficult to insert into the normal society. Nonetheless, they have been in the Empire as mercenaries since the 1st edition of the game; actually, my players have already meet mercenary Ogre npc's in some cities of the Empire.

Nonetheless, for the moment, I am not going to use them as PC's. The reason is just because it will make social interactions nearly impossible for those players. On the other hand, since I have house ruled non-human races following the 1st edition fashion; I will use the rules proposed for Ogres to check the balance of my own house rules for Elfs and Dwarfs.

Yep ogres have been part of the lore, but I've never considered them as player characters in any edition. For me it's just a silly move by FFG. I can just imagine a player group having an ogre player and going in to a social scenario - he would have to stay at the inn while the rest of the group played the scenario.

I think I'll just rule that there can be no ogre players. Look forward to halflings though, because they are interresting and fun.

maybe I will try to do a halfling gunslinger for my next character then mmm .... Billy The Kid kinda theme maybe ...maybe a name like ' Botho Jungen' or 'Heckler von Koch' 'Luger von Schmeisser und Messerschmitt' though perhaps the latter two would be better suited for a human noble gunslinger ...actually for a halfling I guess 'Luger Koch' would be just perfect, both referring to cooking and a gun manufacturer ;)

Hi,

Ogres weren't high on my list of wants, but hey we dont all want the same things out of the game. Am more than pleased with the review (Thanks to all the guys at Reckless, and the cunning Swedes!).

I think Ogres may work for some sessions. In crimson rain they would fit in fine, but eye for an eye, hell no. Guess it would come down to some good comms between GM and players as to what style of sessions lie ahead. I dont think any of my group will play one in the campaign Im running, unless its as a one off after a character death? Long term IMHO they'd probably get a bit dull as PCs.

Well chuffed the little fat fellas have arrived though!

What about Emilio Underhill www.victorialamb.com/wugs/original%20miniatures/emilio/emiliounderhill.html

or Billy Bagshot: www.victorialamb.com/wugs/original%20miniatures/billy%20bagshot.html

:)

Ogres!!!

Awesome, I would like to play an Ogre and have another player as a merchant/rich noble/close friend, we could have some awesome tag team action going on in both social and combat actions.

It really does depend on your group and the style of campaign.

VERY nice. Love the second one. Hmmm I'd like player characters to be represented by real miniatures and the NPC by regular standups. That would be great. But where can you find good WFRP miniatures?

We need a witch hunter, troll slayer, knight and a jade wizard.

hmmm I have a couple mordheim dwarven slayers ...not that greatly painted (thought better in reality than these pics make them look)

I could try to dig them up and bring them along .... Anders has some warhammer quest figures - a (male) wizard), a knight and a witch hunter - but his arent painted Im told ....

I don't understand the fuss and bad feelings about the Ogres.

Just because they are in Hero's Call doesn't mean, you HAVE to play an Ogre or allow them in your group. It's just a page of descriptions and rules and half a dozen cards -- everything else is what you make of it. Nobody complained that you could play Skaven in WFRP2nd. Skaven, same as Ogres, are nothing than an option. I think of Ogres as a player character race more like a funny gimmick. And since I don't have a copy of a Ogre army book for WFB I'm looking forward to having at least some information on them in Hero's Call. I am not planning on playing an Ogre at the moment, and I don't want to have an Ogre in my group at the moment. But I like the idea of them being described and available if I feel to use them as PC or NPC.

Having an additional option doesn't mean that you are being restricted. So I don't understand what the problem with the Ogres is. If you don't like them, ignore them. In almost every roleplaying game and/or setting there are things I ignore. But these things don't hurt me, just because I chose not to use them ...

Korknadel,

I think the obvious reason is: Instead of Ogres, there could have been something else they *did* like, no? :)
