Need help with making a melee or joust, or both :) Martell deck

By Minion1981, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

hello, I just recently started AGoT, I have made successful decks with Lannister and Baratheon, but only in Joust format. I would like to explore the Martell House now, but I am finding it confusing compared to the previous house's I've played with. I own everything card wise except A clash of arms and A time of ravens cycles. I would like to get some help with making a melee and joust deck, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Also, I didn't really want to buy any of the 2 cycles mentioned previously because its not in the 3x format.

well in terms of the 2 cycles your missing the only cards that really stand out as great Martell cards are Game of Cyvase and Refugee of the Citidal but Game of Cyvase really is a great card to have

So heres a some key cards in a Martell Red Viper Deck

Characters

The Red Viper

Arianne Martell

Orphan of the Greenblood

Lost Spearman

Darkstar

Events

Red Vengence

He Calls it Thinking

Vipers Rage

Locations

Lost Oasis

Alchemist shop (if your running venemous blade as your restricted and poisoned knife it makes sense)

Attachments

Taste for Blood

Bodyguard

Poisoned Knife (this on a non kneeling red viper is very powerful)

Restricted Venemous Blade or Vipers Bannerman

Ok cool, thanks guys, it seems Martell's focus is to be beaten which is strange, any advice for how the theme of the house works?

Obviously, Vengeful plays a huge part in losing challenges as the defender, but cards like A Taste for Blood get you power for losing, A Nest of Vipers gives your characters renown, Blood for Blood kills the attackers characters, and The Viper's Rage ensures you won't get attacked again. Best of all, Red Vengeance makes losing a challenge bearable, especially if you run the Knights of the Hollow Hill agenda, so you will always have influence to kneel.

And when you don't have to worry about suffering the claim effects of losing challenges, plots like Retaliation! and Focused Offense let you hit the other player with high claim challenges after they've knelt all of their characters by attacking.
