what upgrades can you slap on....

By jpomz, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

A force sword?

And light power armor?

Mono, lathe, exterminator, mag-lock... i can't think of any others.

Actually Force weapons already have the mono upgrade and it is therefore incompatible with the lathe upgrade

Well you could always make up the difference between mono and lathe, essentially having a better crafting of the mundane aspects of the force weapon.

Depends, Are you ready to do Heretek modifications?

Depends how heretical.

having a force sword and light power armour is powerful enough, you still want more stuff?

also there is no sensible upgrades to armors I think.

You can upgrade your armor with some stuff.

- Photo visor (which in higher quality makes you immune to photon flash granades) if it's not already included

- If stuff from RT is allowed advanced helmet sensors (including photo visor and other nice gadgets)

- cameleoline paint (Works like a cameleoline cloak)

- Hexagrammic wards or the sorcerer variant

- As there is a armor somewhere that has those included you should be able to add: Loud speaker, searchlight etc.

- Forearm weapon mounts

some of the above mit be less useful, some just not optainable but everything should be doable.
And thats just typing what came to mind. Most likely there's a lot of other stuff.

We always used photo contacts, they cannot be confiscated :)

I got my mind onto the shocking armor upgrade, which in the end isn't worth the money.

1- Force Sword: since force weapon are ancient relics and none knows how to make them anymore (some say they are actually xeno artifacts), you can't give them any upgrade which depends on construction (Lathe, for example). A force sword is just how you found it and you cant start doing modifications without heretical knowledge and probably xeno tools.

2- I don't know in DH, but you have several Armour Upgrades in Hostile Acquisitions for RT.

force swords are so overpowered... you can kill anything with one blow.

You can also kill yourself with Psychic Phenomena.

Well, you ask anyone who uses contacts how long they can use the same set for. Or how long they can wear them before their eyes go sore.

Now try going off to a feudal planet for a few months, and claim to be wearing them constantly :)

*whistles innocently*

It came to my mind that you could get your weapon sanctified? Demons wouldn't get their usual benefits.

Can I ask, what the upgrades are, to see if they are new or something old.

Preysense Mask
Cameleoline Coating
Blur

we have already seen in DH

I'm working on memory since I don't have my books at hand, but:

1- Upgrade that gives to any complete set of Carapace the benefit of Light Power Armour (+10 to Strenght and armour weight doesn't count) for 1d5 hours. The benefit with normal power armour is that after the power runs out you can still move and act normaly, since you are just wearing an ordinary set of power armour.

2- Lathe-made armours, which halve penetration values of weapons.

3- A very cool upgrade that gives your armour iconic imagery with lights that boosts Command and other social ability (it can be eighter Charm or Intimidation, I don't remember).

4- Set of servo-arms that nullify any penalty the armour imposes to fine manipulation.

5- Hidden weapon compartment.

6- Several upgrades that gives extra armour points toward a specific tipe of damage.

That's all I remember.

There are some really cool armor upgrades in Black Crusade if you have it.

The only upgrade that might be useful for a Force Sword is an improvement on quality. Common to good or best. Force weapons already ignore the daemonic trait iirc, so you don't need to get it sanctified. Unless you expect a non-psyker to pick your force weapon up.

yes that could be useful, except a force weapons cost 10500-12000 as good and as best 35000-40000

I would think that sum could be obtained only in ascension levels.

Unless you kill a witch who has one and loot it.

I'd like to know how did that witch came up with that amount of money.

He/she killed an experienced psyker who had one. =P

Ascension doesn't consider money as a factor. It uses an acquisition system like RT or BC. Even then, the gear a player can acquire is totally up to the GM, money as a factor or not.

I'd like to know how an experienced psyker loses to a witch.

Unlucky WP roll when resisting Dominate will do the trick just fine.

Or a Divine Shot with his "personally attuned lascannon" :)
