Lyanna combo

By andy100, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I will only point out what is important from the characters text boxes:

Lyanna Stark: Non-unique characters get -1 STR while knelt.

Killer of the Wounded: Response: After a character's STR is reduced by a card effect, stand Killer of the Wounded.

Brass Link: Any Phase: Kneel attached character to discard the top X cards from any player's deck. X is the number of Chain attachments on attached character. (Limit once per phase).

Now you probably see the big picture here. I will tell you this: In 1 round, i managed to lose 50 cards due to Brass Link.

Limit Killer of the Wounded's Response or something ,because this is a deck killer.

You can do the same thing with no-kneeling bob and the two links....

Really not seeing how this would work, as Brass Link is limit once per phase- doesn't matter how many times you stand and kneel killer of the wounded, unless he's got 50 chain attachments on him, he's not going to discard 50 cards in a turn.

Draw Phase: Discard 7

Marshalling Phase: Discard 7... and so on.

If he's got Lyanna and a Killer with 7 chains on him then he's put a lot of effort into this combo and it deserves to wreck decks. How did he do it so fast that you still had 50 cards left in your deck to discard?

Played with an army deck. So lost pretty much all intrigues, strength reduction with another Chain, and so on. My deck consists of 70 cards, so :

7+3 (setup) + 2*4 turn= 18 cards drawed after turn 4 draw phase. After that 49 discards. After a Valar, i could only place 1 char in, and that had its stre reduced to 0 all the time.

I'm still puzzled about how he got 7 chains on the Killer. It takes some fairly lucky draw on his part to pull that off.

Furthermore, where is your draw engine? No additional cards after 4 turns is fairly bad (or unlucky).

Unlucky i would say, My Blackfish died with Valar, and didn't draw any Guard till that point either.

Was he putting chains directly onto his Killer of the Wounded from his Agenda? There's been an errata that stops him from doing that.

Thank you Tom. I just checked the FAQ and it's all there.

Should read: "...attach 1 Chain from this card
to a printed Maester character you control."

For a moment i thought this will turn into MtG, where you could also win by attacking opponents deck. Many thanks for clearing this for me.

Good find though. This is still interesting tech.

This isn't the only way to use the Killer. splash him in stark, give him the direwolf trait and shaggy on the board and you can nullify all opponents challenges.

Or, give him the gold * lead link together with CS Drogon, and kill anything with str equal to or lower than the number of chains on the killer +1. each phase. you can do this at the same time your doing the whole milling thing too.

Personally I think all on table standing effects should have a limit of 3 per round. I can't say i'm the biggest fan of the 1 per phase limitation on things, as we've seen, while it does curb the maesterrs somewhat. they are still pretty rediculous.

but really though, its nothing Robert couldn't do better.

On a seperate note, while milling doesn't make you "win" instantly, i hope it does become a valid strategy on its own. otherwise we kind of have a lot of dead cards.

Its pretty similar to the robert combo, yeah, except its on a weaker, easier to deal with character.

First snow of winter, and that's done.

So has anyone had the chance to test this out in a tourney style environment yet? I had a different deck that I wanted to test in our tournament over the weekend, so the next time I can get a feel for it is the first weekend of March.
