I am very happy to begin unveiling the finalists for the 2008 Dark Heresy Scenario Contest! There were quite a few entries, and the trio of finalists should be honored that their dedication and hard work distinguished them from the great number of excellent entries that I received. I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who participated in the contest. There was quite a diverse array of adventures and concepts, and it was particularly exciting to see how creative and enthusiastic the entries became!
Drum roll please...Finalist #2 is:
Eternal Tide by Andrea Gausman
Andrea Gausman’s entry includes a beautiful map for the adventure and has many tie-ins to the Calixis Sector. Andrea worked very hard to weave the story of her adventure seamlessly into the background of the
Dark Heresy
setting!
Andrea’s scenario overview is as follows:
“The genetic blasphemies committed by the Adranti should never be misconstrued as anything else. However, the knowledge they possessed about the nature of life must have been immense. For example, some Spectorin specimens appear to have existed not just as species, but as individuals, for thousands of years, untouched by time.”
–Magos Genetus Halix Redole
The Eternal Tide takes the Acolytes to the ocean world of Spectoris, home of the infamous Magos Genetus Halix Redole. A heretic with shadowy connections to their own Inquisitor has stolen documents penned by Redole, and appears to be on the trail of greater forbidden knowledge. The Acolytes will have to explore the forgotten depths of the ocean, brave the unfamiliar territory of the open sea, and tangle with savage criminals in order to track their quarry. They may also find themselves faced with some deep questions of what they desire, and who they can trust.
The judges found Eternal Tide to be an exceptionally well-written adventure. The climax is very exciting and the challenges presented for the player characters were well thought out and creative. The production values of Eternal Tide were very good, including quote boxes throughout, GM’s sections, dialogue, Lore tables, and detailed NPC profiles.
Congratulations, Andrea Gausman! As one of the finalists, you may be selected as the ultimate winner of the 2008 Dark Heresy Scenario Contest!
