Story-Mode Scenario - Operation: Cabana Boys

A scenario i've been messing around with since i picked up Daedalus...lots of text, but doesn't seem overly complicated in play, imo...let me know what you thinnk - i've had fun playing this! happy.gif

OPERATION: CABANA BOYS


--- BRIEFING ---
An old hunting cabin in the French countryside has long been used by the aristocratic Poli Family since before anyone can remember. The Polis, having been routed from their city home by the Reich, retreated to the cabin with the few possessions they could bring and used the cabin as a safe house for the French resistance. Its location, hidden within the forest but logistically close to a major road, has prompted the Union to take command and fortify this tactically important location.
The double-agent, Wolf, while instrumental in the Union’s acquisition of their new clandestine Outpost by acting as their agent, has also informed the Reich High Command of the presence of a mysterious book he has seen in the living quarters. The Kaiser, recalling the legend of the Templar Tome - a long lost collection of Occult manuscripts passed down through generations in secret for safe keeping – suspects this book to be that Tome. Not being able to completely trust the agent Wolf with this alone, the Kaiser has ordered Blutsturm Investigators Eva Kramer and Yula Korlitz to acquire the Tome and deliver it to the hands of the Reich High Command.
The Reich’s timing could not be better – a change of command of the outpost has put the often drunk and disorderly 42nd MSF led by John MacNeal in charge, and with minimal personnel. Not surprisingly, commanding officers John MacNeal, Caitlyn Lamsbury, and Barry Brown have left the outpost for the evening with little more than their sidearms to enjoy their favorite pastime – drinking and entering fighting matches at the local tavern. Coincidentally, while they are out, a long-awaited air drop of highly classified equipment developed specifically for each of these officers to test out in the field has arrived. The Commandos left to guard the cabin have been ordered to leave the potentially dangerous crates for only the officers to open…
The Blutsturm agents receive this information through channels, all provided by the undercover agent Wolf. They have been ordered directly by the Kaiser to rendezvous with Wolf, persuade him to abort his previous mission and return to Berlin with the investigators and the Templar Tome immediately…

--- SETUP ---
Use the Outpost of Gevaudan map.


This scenario pits the Union against the Reich .


The Union player must choose the following characters and equips them as follows (instead of freely choosing packs for Heroes):
MacNeal - Colt .45 1911 A1, Boxing, Moving Target
Hoax - Colt Thompson M1, Trench Knife, Barroom Brawler
Brown - Smith & Wesson 1917, Knife, Incredible Strength
Commando Alpha (x2) – [equipment packs of choice]
Commando Alphas start the game already on the map on entrances to the cabin, as indicated, and already in Overwatch.


The Reich player must choose the following characters and equips them as follows:
Eva – [equipment pack of choice]
Yula – [equipment pack of choice]
Wolf – [equipment pack of UNION PLAYER’S choice]
Schocktruppen (x2) – [equipment packs of choice]
Wolf starts the game already on the map on the SNEAK secondary objective, as indicated.


The Union player receives 0 Command Points at the start of the game and the Reich player receives 2 Command Points .


The following 2 tokens from each character are then stacked with a random face-down Equipment Crate Token on top, creating 3 stacks of 3 tokens – 2 belonging to the same Union Hero and 1 crate token:
MacNeal – Nighteyes & Flash Gun MK1
Hoax – Joshua T1 & CG84
Brown: Flash Machine Gun A6A & BA-27.
Create a fourth stack of 3 Equipment Crate Tokens, then randomly place the 4 stacks on the 4 Primary Objective circles .


Place the Templar Tome (aka ‘Manuscript Token’ from Daedalus) on the Dexterity Secondary Objective.


Place 3 Secret Door Tokens on the circles indicated (only 2 are Action Circles).


The Union Enters from the North (by the Cabin). The Reich enters from the South (by the river).


--- SPECIAL RULES ---

Union Heroes : The Union Heroes, returning from a local tavern, are DRUNK. Place an ad hoc token on their character sheets to represent this. While DRUNK, these heroes use their lowest Combat & Movement Values by default and CP may not be spent on them. At the beginning of each Union Hero’s Activation, the Hero must make a Mental Test: If the Hero rolls, 3 Successes, he is no longer DRUNK.
The Union Heroes may not enter play until the second turn.


Commando Alphas : Begin the game in play and in Overwatch (at not CP cost). They remain in Overwatch until either:

A) they launch an OW attack OR

B) the Union player spends 1 CP to remove 1 Commando Alpha from Overwatch, during the Set Overwatch Step.
(once they leave Overwatch, they may be set on Overwatch again, as normal).

Wolf : Wolf begins the game on the map, but is not considered in play under the Reich’s control until Eva or Yula WIN a Mental Duel against Wolf. Once this happens, The Reich player may secretly look at the Crate Tokens on the primary objective circles, without revealing to the opponent (without mixing up). Wolf can enter play by entering an adjacent circle to the SNEAK secondary objective on the following turn.


Schocktruppen: Must be brought into play as Reinforcements for 3 CP.


Reinforcements : If troopers are eliminated in this game, they may NOT be brought back as reinforcements.


Command Points: During the Refresh Step each turn, each player resets his CP to a number equal to the number of Heroes in play he controls who are not DRUNK.


Secret Doors: Follow normal Revised rules, except when a character enters a secret door circle, he may emerge from EITHER of the other 2 Secret Doors of his choice.


Crates & Hero Equipment Stacks: ANY character may spend an Action when adjacent to Pick Up ALL tokens on a primary objective circle. Tokens belonging to a Union character may only be EQUIPPED and used by that character however; if another character possess them, they do not take up an equipment slot but can be passed as a group to another character or dropped.


Templar Tome : Only the Reich may pick up this token, as the Union is unaware of its significance. It does not take up a slot in the character’s inventory.


--- VICTORY CONDITIONS ---

If the Reich obtains the Templar Tome and exits the map through their entry point with it, they immediately win!


If the Union eliminates all Reich characters, they immediately win!

This looks great! Entirely within the spirit of the pulp SF and frankly bonkers world of Tannhauser cool.gif
