Just want to get a quick elaboration here. You said they needed to have 'neither lords nor ladies' for Red Wedding not to work. Does that mean that if there is only one type on the table (lord or lady) then something still happens? Because I always thought it needed both or it fizzled.

There does need to exist one lord and one lady character on the table for this plot effect to take place. If there is not one of each(or the ones that are chosen cannot be killed), it will fizzle.

Sorry, I was implying that your deck would likely have one of both out at any given time, so if they have either they are going to get hit with it.

I've been having a similar problem. (I run Baratheon in one form or another almost exclusively.)

Running some powerful Asshai can help. ( Heart of the Stag and Salla's Escort Ship along with some well placed attachments can turn things around too, just spread them out a little to avoid Bastard doing too much damage...) Core Selyse Baratheon paired with The Fox's Teeth or Ser Eldon Eastermont (As long as you control initiative). Core Melisandre will slow things down for any opponent with a lot of power on characters as well.

Running an Maester deck with the Black Iron Link can work too, but it's still very vulnerable to the Bastard attachment.

Still... A very difficult match-up.
