The RT Bestiary...and FFG´s change of comment

By Gregorius21778, in Rogue Trader

Hi guys,

it seems FFG changed its tactic (see announcemnt for. Instead of offering a "guest book" like function under each of their news-article (like they did in the past) they now included a button directing the soon-to-be comment giver to the matching forum.

What do you think about this new practice?

In my opinion it is not a good choice since it is less straight forward. Instead of seeing the comments of other directly, I now need to look into the relevant sub-forum and search for the topic instead. sad.gif

About the Book & the news post
I am sooooooooo happy that they started to exclude samples of the creatures like the did in "Creatures Anatehma" for DH. It gives me an idea about what the product will actually be like.

Getting more "Warp Creatures" is a fine thing as well. I hope for less "scenario specific" creatures but for things I can introduce as a "random encounter" during a ship travell as this bedamned gellar field flickers.

Can´t wait for the next update & for the actualy book. THUMBS UP!

I'm not too bothered about losing the "Comments" section on new releases. All comments tended to be variations on "Wow, can't wait for this!"

The new Rogue Trader beastie closely resembles an Acklay from Star Wars...Wonder if they're related?lengua.gif

My tought exactly, seen this in SW...

The creature is pretty lame too, an Apex predator tree hugging insect... Not as if we could not make one on the fly.

Anyway i'll judge the full content latter.

I'm Sure we could. The Idea of these books is to give someone some premade "Beasies" in their game when they don't feel like doing it themselves. We are talking a galaxy of alien "things" here! No book could hope to cover even a small fraction of them!

Just curious, but shouldn't this creature have Concealment?

I was going to make the Acklay comment. You've beaten me this time Lightbringer, but I shall have my revenge!! Seriously though, I agree with the point of most of the comments being a waste of space. That being said, I'd rather keep the comments on the announcement. Those same useless comments will now be cluttering up the forum instead. I prefer having the comments available as a "dumping ground" for the drivel.

I think it should had have.

Another thing that comes to my mind after the first "goody-rush" is over that while we are given "how-awesome" comment of it, the creature is not really described. I miss things like if it is hunting solo or as mate-pair or as packs, if it is caring for its brood/youngs or just drops an egg and leaves, what its regular prey is etc.

I found things like this in other "creature books" of other publishers and it really helped to make the thing more then just the next COMBAT ENCOUNTER.
This would have been especially useful if some RT is -really- out their to hunt some of the beasts instead of justing stumbling across them while on the planet.
