KVs vs Kolossus

By Psykostevo, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

Are the AT-43 Kolossus the same thing as the DT KVs?

I swear they look 80% the same. It's like Red Blok and SSU are identical.

If its 80% then its not identical :) They do fit in extremely well with the SSU designs though, you can see them being made alongside each other.

The kolossus models are also about half the size of the KV models.

Well that's important to know.

Yeah. I had heard somewhere that AT-43 was also based on Paulo Parente artwork. So I thought that it might all be from the same drawings or something.

The Kolossas would be good for an A4 infantry, the Kossak a great walker.

Yeah the Kolossus in AT43 were about the equivalent of the current A3/A4 infantry. The KV's are valid walkers. And yeah, AT43 was based on this background and when Dust was first being discussed, Rackham and Paolo wanted the 2 games to be compatible until Rackham went fully under of course.

Afaik PP was a joint contributor (art direction and storyline) to the creation of AT43 from the outset and as Alternate Timeline 43 it was originally intended to be the "Dust" concept. I think perhaps Jean Bey had some influnce in the eventual decision to make the system more Sci-futuristic (going by the earlier prieviews). Thats why there are obvious similarities. As for there being a plan for two compatible systems who knows?

Check Eddy G's page for further images of the AT 43 Cogs/Vrill.

Yeahh. I see it as a bit too much for the game. But the comics look good and have decent story.

AT43 was a great setting and a decent game that had great possibilities but for some reason failed to catch on (the rules were not very easy, and used metric but once you knew them they made sense and were good rules).

I miss it being in production and would love for FFG to do something with it. A board game, a card game, a novel, a "adventure game" similar to Space Hulk. Anyway.

I would buy more AT-43 if the game were still supported. I'm not gettin rid of my models. I thought the game was easy to learn and made sense to play.I like how dust does alternating plays too.

Oh wow. What a perspective. So I'm not the only one in love with Red Blok LOL.

Looking at the comparison, they truly should be A4 infantry...
