Questions that need answering...

By kamacausey, in CoC General Discussion

After playing quite a few games there have been a few rules questions that have popped up that I would like some answers to if at all possible. Anyone that knows the answers feel free to chime in.

1. Can yol gonac make an insane person commit to a story?

2. Does devil's reef pertain to ALL deep ones meaning my opponents deep ones as well?

3. When museum curator puts a support card into play and it happens to be an attachment does that mean I can attach it to someone on my side or would it not work that way?

4. The way I am reading jamie whinthrop is he is only useful if you can somehow draw a card during the story phase. Is this right? He only blanks someone for the phase. If so what are some cards besides obsessive insomniac and scienific text that allow you to draw cards during the story phase or is jamie just not that good? Does taking the card you reveal from lucky rabbits foot count as "drawing"?

Thanks,

-kama

1. Y'Golnac has the phrase "if able". An insane character is not able, so although Y'Golnac could target an insane character, it still could not commit to a story.

2. Yes. The language does not say "characters you control" or anything like that, so all Deep Ones are affected.

3. You can attach it to a legal character (one that can receive the attachment)

4. You understand it correctly. An no, Rabbit's Foot does not count as "drawing" a card.

Here's one I forgot. I know David pan makes everyone use skill instead of icons but say he wins any icon struggle do you get to resolve that struggle like you just won? For example if you win the combat struggle can you choose to wound a character at the story as if you had more combat icons? Same for investigation. Even though you have no investigation icons do you get to place an investigation token if you win the skill battle?

Yes to everything. the effect of the struggles does not change, only the method to determine the winner.

So he is basically just a parallel universe on a stick! Sweet! Here's another one: When repo man wins a combat struggle and you gain control of an opponents attachment like infernal obsession what happens? Same thing for an attachment that actually helps you like a shotgun? Can you reequip it to anyone you want or what?

You may want to check out the latest FAQ (2.0) which covers all of these answers. It also features an answer specifically about Repo Man:

What happens if I use Repo Man (Summons
of the Deep F41) to take control of Infernal
Obsession (Summons of the Deep F51) which
was attached to a character I own?
Repo Man takes control of Infernal
Obsession, which causes that original
character to revert to your control.
Infernal Obsession is now discarded.
