The essential adventurer equipment for a summer outing in the Reikwald

Above is a quick sketch of my PC Erika Weiss from my online adventure Citizens of the Empire with all of the essential equipment required for an adventure in the summer months. A couple of things

1. She looks like a man because in game she looks like a man

2. She has way more hair here then on the site, that's because it has been over a month in game time since I drew the original, now she has more hair then when first encountered

3.I don't believe in sexy armour for females. If I was a woman I'd want my bits protected, if not more since my chest is protudes a great deal further than my male counterparts!

So, this is what Erica has taken to the Reikwald, what does your character take. (pics not necessary of course!)

Hmm

my current character Johan Bödtker havent really done much camping yet, as he is mostly a city person .....

but as I do find it interesting to see character portraits I can show mine here ....

Johan in my mind is characterized by his charming maverick personality - so started off by casting an actor for him, In a movie based on the game, Johan would thus be played by Joel McHale of “Community” fame.

finding a couple of suitable images .... a bit of photoshopping (I suck at drawing)....and voila :)

Soo.... Boots, a gun, a coat, a rapier, ...a sandwich and a blanket ...

(Oh and ofcause I appoligize in advance for anyones copyright or whatnot I might have violated ... )

Don't forget ample salt to throw over your shoulder to ward off bad luck, blessed votiv candles (made out of pious people would be the best) to ward off dark forest spirits, a dead rat stuffed with garlic to ward off disease (onions rubbed liberally on the neck groin and under arms works too), a little research into how much the road warden patrols charge to cross bridges in the area you will be headed toward, some "meat" jerky, "good cheese" (aka Stinking Bishop, Roquefort or Stilton), and a nice simple vintage of wine in a wineskin...cause water is for dogs.

AND

No Reiklander would be caught dead without wearing the latest style of slashed pantaloon for "outdoorsmen" and a good traveling cravat. Wool is for a Hochland swineherd. Even the lower classes of the Reikland want to look "classy" by comparison to their more rural provincial neighbors. And Fur is for those wolf loving Middenlanders.

Looks great. He needs a hat though. Only the poorest of the poor people don't have hats in middle ages//renniasannnce settings.

Hahahahaha, great one Callidon!

But, well, she seems to be from Kislev. A shame she looks so much like a lad. Kislevite women are so sexy in my mind's eye... Remember Ulrika from Daemonslayer? Life's too short, let's fight and go to bed

She (in game she was almost always mistaken for a he which is a benefit in a male dominated society) is the poorest of the poor, from a pig farm in Stirland. I get ragged on all the time because of it.

As she is from Stirland it is a well known fact according to anyone not from Stirland that stirland women are hairy, ugly and vastly unattractive. Apparently in my characters case this 100% correct, compounded by her Stirland rural peasant accent this makes her 100% non desirable to just about anything in Reikland, perhaps even a Middenlander!

Subtract slashed pantaloons and finer cloth and add more Onions and Garlic :-). In Stirland you can never be too careful.

It's worth taking note that transvestitism is remarkably common in early european history, for precisely the same reasons as Dan mentioned. It's just easier to get by as a man.
