Expansion help?

By hollis257, in Talisman

I'm relatively new to Talisman and looking for some help regarding the expansions. I've been playing for a couple of years on the girlfriends Dads 2nd edition and for Christmas got given the revised 4th edition along with the Sacred Pool expansion. I'm now thinking of getting another expansion and as I normally have limited table space, I was thinking of getting either the Frostmarch expansion or the Reaper expansion which I cannot decide between.

One of my only small problems with the game is that the board tends to get very cluttered with places and strangers which stop adventure cards getting drawn and slow the game.

My question is, which of these expansions has board clearing cards within its adventure deck such as earthquake or volcano?

I've Googled this and searched this forum and can find nothing to answer my question. I know these exist (or atleast cards of this nature) as I've seen them in someone else’s 4th edition ages ago. They also appear in the 2nd edition that i have been playing. This may help me to decide on which one the go for first.

Any other pointers on which one to get would be appreciated.

my first expansion was the reaper expansion. really good one and adds in my opinion a lot more to the game than the frostmarch expansion. neither of those 2 expansion really add more clutter.

I would choose for the reaper expansion.

That expansion has the earthquake adventure card that you seek.

But the frostmarch has the ragnarok and the goblin sapper adventure card, and the obliterate spell card that will destroy cards on the board.

If you really are looking for board clearing cards, then it seems that the frostmarch expansion is the way to go..

Frostmarch has also more warlock quests, allternative endings and very good spell cards as toadify, bolster, energize, freeze and mark for glory.

But the drawback of the frostmarch expansion are the enemies. Most of them are very weak, and i did not like the balance from that expansion.

But the reaper has a better balance of weak and strong enemies, and more adventure and spell cards.

It all depends what you want.

I hope that this information is useful for you.

Greetings,

Velhart

This will give you the information on cards in each expansion!

Elliott.

Thanks for all the replies.

As there seems to be board clearing cards in both expansions I think I will settle for the Reaper for now as msot people on this fourm and else where i've read seem to suggest its the better balanced one. Plus after a look though the list of cards in both expansions, there seems to be more cards in the Reaper that I regonise from the older version of the game. I think these would be a nice edition at this stage and i'll add the frostmarch later on.

Thanks again for all your help :)
