For Leo Anderson's personal story Get to Work, do exhaausted Allies still give their bonuses?

What happens if you use Naacal Key at a location where there is already a gate open after moving there? Does it allow you to change the gate present there, or does it cause a monster surge?

Does Skids O'Toole's Pass ability mean that he puts a clue token on Seeking Answers for every clue token he draws, or is it every time he draws clue tokens he gets one? E.g. would a King in Yellow let him put four clue tokens on Seeking Answers?

If the Deputy is devoured can another player become deputized (presumably bringing back the patrol wagon and deputy's gun if they were lost)?

If Wendy uses her Elder Sign to place the third seal on the board, does she pass or fail her personal story?

There is a CotDP other world card that reads on its yuggoth encounter "The Mi-Go offer immortality... of a sort. If you accept, you are devoured, except that you keep all of your Spells, Skills, and Clue tokens, to be used with your next investigator. Then close and seal a gate to Yuggoth, if one is open. Does that gate trophy go to your new investigator (since trophies are transfered when investigators are devoured)?

Likewise, does Silas Marsh's pass condition allow him to take the gate trophy for the gate sealed and hand it on to the next investigator (who replaces him when he is devoured)?

What happens for a pass fail condition if the condition already happened?

E.g. Ursula fails when the terror hits three; however, what if she is a replacement investigator for a devoured character who only comes into play after the terror level hits three? Is her personal story now unfailable? Or does it auto-fail?

Are the Sky and Outskirts considered "in play"? I would think the sky definitely— but I'm not certain about the outskirts. This is being asked because there is uncertainty how to use Dagon's Teeming Masses and Hydra's Tekeli-li! I.e. would we be counting monsters in the outskirts as well?

Sister Mary's new personal story, "Once per turn, Sister Mary may exhaust this card to re-roll a die rolled during the Upkeep Phase." Does this mean that she can reroll a die that she rolled, or that she can allow any player to reroll an upkeep die roll?

1.Chaugnar Faugn. Does the penalty for owning or being in the same neighborhood as an elder sign stack? Ex. If you have an elder sign and are in the same neighborhood as an elder sign is it -2?

Furthermore, do two eldersigns in a neighborhood stack. I.e. if you have a seal on the Graveyard and the Black Cave, and are in a purple location while holding an Elder Sign, would you have -3 to skill checks in that neighborhood?

2. Ursula Downs. If she begins on an unstable location, can she take the clue that was there? (like Kate Winthrop?). Can Downs start at Yha'Netheli or the Strange High House since she isn't actually moving there?

3. If Tsothoggua is the AO, are you unable to use the Falcon Point ability?

Btw, in case it isn't obvious, I'm not coming up with all these questions on my own, I've taken it upon my self to copy paste other people's questions in the forums that we can't reach consensus on. I.e. these actually are F.A.Q.s and not just issues that I've idiosyncratically decided to ask about.

Apologies if these have already been asked but I have a few questions for this gargantuan undertaking:

  • If a gate burst occurs at a location which already has an open gate is there a monster surge?
  • If a gate burst occurs at Kate Winthrop's location what happens?
  • If a gate burst occurs at Kate Winthrop's location and there is a seal there what happens?
  • Do spawn monsters count towards the monster limit? If so do they go in the outskirts if the monster limit has been reached and they try and appear?
  • Do monsters in the sky count towards the monster limit? If so when a flying monster in Dunwich / Kingsport / Innsmouth moves and the monster limit has been reached in Arkham Town where does the flying monster go?
  • Do flying monsters ever go into vorticies?

There may be more questions later...

Well some of these there are already answers for:

If a gate burst occurs at a location which has an open gate there is indeed a monster surge. They say there is only NOT a monster surge if a gate burst occurs at a sealed location (why there would be I don't know, but maybe if they left that out of the rules people would be asking that question instead.)

Spawn Monsters don't count for the monster limit, and do not go into the outskirts. It's in the dunwich rulebook, page 7.

Monsters in the sky DO count toward the monster limit, so if they move they go to the outskirts if the monster limit in Arkham is already hit.

And finally, flying monsters don't move into vortices.

I wouldn't say they "never" go in. If a flying monster is next to a vortex, and someone gets an Arkham Encounter that says "move all monsters toward the white (or black) arrow, regardless of their movement type" then one would enter. But that's not relevant to the flying movement type: in 100% of circumstances related to a flying monster moving as a flying monster, it will not enter a vortex.

Can Patrice's gain five clue tokens ability be used multiple times if it is coupled with Elder Signs, Witches Blood, or other methods of removing doom token. Or should it be erratted to only work for the first time? It would also allow her to stack clue tokens while fighting Cthulhu when he regenerates, and presumably she would also gain her clue tokens if an Ancient One awakens as its doom track fills?

Is Roland Banks' ability intended to function during final combat? If so, Nyarlethotep can't really defeat him (without epic battle cards). Not that Nyarlethotep every defeats anyone.

If martial law is declared and then the doom track is lowered so that it is less than half. Does Martial Law go away until it is half again?

The Curse of the Dark Pharoah has cards that allow investigators to fight Ancient Ones in other worlds. When doing so, should they use Epic Battle Cards now?

No you should not use epic battle during one vs GOO fight. Many plot cards are insta kills. But this is not an official answer.

My question that I have is about location cards and gate cards. SO many cards are unclear to me. Way to many to list here. They say to do something if you pass take this or recieve that. If you fail do this or that. Then they have more stuff after the pass fail things. Is there a flow chart for reading cards?

No offense to FFG but some cards have spelling errors and are missing words. I think one of the GOO's in the Innsmouth expansion has a spelling error on it. Now normally I don't complain about this, but when game components have spelling errors I expect that to only occur in one of the expansions.

It causes confusion which slows down the game and that is followed with frustration. I could see it happeing in the base game. After first mistakes the editors should have been warned then. The second time, they should have to sign a paper that lets the manager know that they are aware that if they make a 3rd error it could lead to termination. Sorry but I can't stand the fact that people are paid to scan each sentence one by one for errors, yet some how almost every FFG manual or product has a spelling error or grammer error.

Please do a better job with your editing staff FFG. I will be honest and say I will continue to buy the games cuz they are just too fun and cool, but editors should do a better job for the amount that the games cost. Starcraft is $90. Arkham expansions are $50. At that price I expect near perfection in the spelling and grammer, but if you want to continue producing products with mistakes, sadly I will keep buying them because FFG makes fun and interesting games.

Rant over...sorry for those that didnt care to read that nor care about my oppinion. Still if you can link me too a flow chart for the way location and gate cards that list a ton of "if's" and "mays" should be read. And before anyone tries to point out my grammer stinks, keep in mind I don't get paid to make my post mistake free. I do make sure to do my best at my jobs in computer graphics, because my mistakes set the company back and make others do more work.

World Torn Asunder Rumor from Kingsport Horror: "Each time monsters with the moon dimensional symbol move..." Is it necessary that there is a movement-capable monster with the moon dimensional symbol on the board, or does the effect simply trigger if the correct monster movement symbol appears on the Mythos card even if there are no monsters on the board?

What happens if the first player is devoured in a Quachil Uttaus game, but *not* by Quachil? Does his replacement investigator become first player? Do the dust decks reshuffle?

LOCATIONS, STREETS, AND AREAS

It seems pretty clear that Locations, Street and Other World areas are well defined. However, some characters and investigator cards seems to use "location" loosely.

Examples include Kate's ability of disallowing monsters and gates to appear in her location. So, they CAN appear in Other World areas?

Tommy Muldoon from Innsmouth may cause one or monsters adjacent to his location to move to his location. So, his ability would not work if he is in a street area?

Minh Thi Phan from Innsmouth gains a +1 bonus to skill checks while another investigator is in the same location. So, her ability does not work if she is in a street or other world area?

Silas Marsh from Innsmouth may move to any other other aquatic location when he is in an aquatic location. So, he could not move to an aquatic street area in Innsmouth?

Vincent Lee may restore 1 Stamina to himself or another character in his location. So, his ability would not work in a street or other world area?

The Unique item, Milk of Shub-N, allows you to move all non-Spawn monsters to your location. So, this would not work in a street or other world area?

The reason I ask is because many other Investigators and cards seem to be specific. For instance, Tony Morgan's Blood Money ability only works in a street area. It states street area and not location.

It would be great to receive a clarification on Locations, Streets, and areas.

Does Finn Edward's power protect his items from Ithaqua's Start of Battle power?

Does it protect weapons Finn uses against Cthugha's power?

Can Mists Of Releh be used to pass a Martial Law evade check? I would say no, but perhaps it is yes, and the question of intent has come up before regarding this card, so, does it actual mean pass evade checks in general?

Innsmouth Martial Law timing question: You go to Innsmouth while Martial Law is in effect to kill a couple monsters at the bus stop, who could move into the vortice next turn. Do you fight those monsters BEFORE making the Evade check against Martial Law to see if you are arrested, or AFTER?

Do the "counts as a cultist" monsters from Black Goat

- get removed from the cup if Abhoth is the Ancient One?

- get eaten if Rhan-Tegoth is the Ancient One?

- count towards personal stories that require a Cultist trophy?

What happens if Rhan-Tegoth is the Ancient One and you get an encounter that lets you draw a monster trophy, and you draw a Cultist? Do you get to keep it, or does Rhan get it and you get something else?

Can't see this anywhere:

Finn Edwards can currently "misuse" items such as tomes, whiskey and food to receive the benefit of the card and not discard it. This is especially problematic in regards to research materials, which in cases of consecutive clue expenditures (i.e. all skill checks) allows him to single-handedly pass all skill checks, leading to a number of ludicrous situations.

I guess the question is: What is the actual intent/fix for his ability?

Some have suggested limiting it so that Finn needs to still discard an item if he wants to benefit from it, in cases where this is normally done (tomes, whiskey, dynamite, research materials, etc.). This would limit his abillity to such things as Ithaqua's and Cthugha's special abilities as well as thieves in encounters.
