I notice that the cards from the Five Kings set look like LCG cards with black borders. Are they legal for the LCG?

Not for FFG-sponsored tournaments or organized play. Whatever you and your friends want to do in casual play is up to you, though.
If they are identical to cards printed for the LCG, they are legal (Breaking and Entering); if they are different, they aren't (Frozen Solid, or more subtly Rusted Sword).
Alright, good to know. It's a shame. That White Sword tower and Boros Blount would be so very helpfull in the lcg..
