I'm planning to play build a PC with the blindness-disadvantage. This PC trys to "replace" his sight with Ki Detection and Erudition, which has some advantages but also some disadvantages (the radius, which the PC can usually feel would be lower than the normal line of sight and also she couldn't see colours, writings etc.).

So, I have read over and over the Ki Detection / Erudition and have there some questions:

1. Can a PC with Erudition feel fire, like burning candles? Because I think fire would be "energy" (because it has an intensity).

2. Can a PC feel not-living things like walls or chairs or something in this kind? There starts my real problem. it would (for me) normal, that not-living things doesn't have any "energy", but on the second thought: At page 218 of the core book is written, that you can ignore the Damage Barrier of things, if you can damage energy. So it isn't this clear to me, if not-living things can be felt with or not.

Seems to me that those abilities only deal with energy from a living thing, or things that have intensities (ie fire, ice, lightning, etc.). What you may want to consider is making a technique that is strictly radial vision that is maintained, since it grants 360 degree vision, it may work. But that just an idea I had.

I too lean toward the fact that you would be blind to objects and things without actual energy.

Consider his Dominion solution, or using Blood of the Beasts or Chaos Stigmata to grab the monster power.

Ki detection detects anything that has points of Ki. So any kind of animal would count, but not plants, but even though Sigma Hecatondies are not alive, since they have Ki, they would also be detected. Ki detection detects nothing else.

Erudition will determine the following things

1) The Aura and color. If you have the ability Aura Extension it is blatantly obvious to anyone with Erudition, and your aura also tells a little of your emotional state or nature.

2) How much Martial Knowledge has been spent (not how much you have, just how much has been spent)

3) Identifying entity tags. Someone with Erudition will be able to recognize his friend Johnny by his energy signature so someone using disguise to pretend to be Johnny cannot fool someone with Erudition. This can backfire if someone has Ki Concealment and Erudition and knows what Johnny's Ki looks like.

4) Erudition can be used as a fighting aid (see Dominus Exxet for the rules on this)

If you want to play a PC who can replace Sight with Ki Detection, you will require Eyes of the Soul (Legacy of Blood pg 77 Dominus Exxet)

You might want to take inspiration from Toph of The Last Airbender as well. Something kinda like a radar or sonar like ability.
