Do universal effects stack with criticals?

For example: Priest of Sigmar Melee Attacks with The Blessed Warhammer of Sigmar (DR7/CR2) and gets 1 success and two eagles. Does he get both the crit and the universal effect of recovering fatigue?

I'm assuming this is an item from the new POD set. Could you explain the effect for those of us who don't have it?

The Blessed Warhammer is the equivalent of the Swordmaster's sword. I just use it as an example

Without having access to the specific item I can only answer in the general terms.

When you perform any action you 'spend' the boons/banes to generate any additional effects, if you rolled 1 success and 2 boons and were using the basic melee strike action you could either

• Recover 1 fatigue (universal effect) or
• Trigger your weapons critical rating (if it were 2 or less) or
• Perform a free manoeuvre for free (on the card)

Unless Sigmar's Hammer specifically says something along the lines so "You do not 'spend' the boons to activate the critical effect" or "If you do critical damage with Sigmar's Hammer generate two more boons" then you can't do both.
