Hi, I'm starting up a Black Crusade campaign soon and one of the guys showed a real interested in voidships and the like. Which I thought was great becuase he's never played an RPG before and getting excited about stuff you can do is always a good sign, but the BC core book doesn't have alot of info on any land, air or void vehicles. Now, I have the RT core book and have skimmed it and found a few pages that I skimmed over regarding merchant ships, frigates and cruisers Now, they're not getting their hands on one anytime soon.
But I figure there must be an array of other vehicles they can use, everything from bikes, rhinoes, to civilian and even military airplanes or small shuttles for space scenarios. So, anyone who can help me out with a good book or site with some good information?
Book with vehicle/starship material
-Starship Rules: Rogue Trader Core
-Vehicle Rules: Into the Storm (it also has additional options for building starships)
Thank you kind sir! I'll have to go about getting it and having a look at the fluff and stuff. Most of my experience is with the tabletop game and although that's fine, I somehow doubt they'll find rhino's laying about, and the closest to civilian vehicles are ork trukks so some more material was needed.
You are welcome! =D
Doesn't Black Crusade have a system for Acquisition that uses Infamy in the same way RT uses Profit Factor? You will find that Into the Storm has rules for vehicle acquisition, and they are not that difficult to purchase (specially in low numbers).
The guideline for Vechile Acquisition is something like:
1- All vehicles impose a -10 penalty to their Acquisition test due to the expensive materials involved in their constructions, in addition to their Availability Modifier.
2- Vehicles are modified by quantity, so the acquisition of a single vehicle gives you +30 bonus, 3-5 vehicles +20 bonus, etc. (it's the same table on the RT Core).
3- While you can purchase Poor/Good/Best craftsmanship vehicles, the book doesn't have rules for any penalty/bonus for doing so (so you are better assuming they are all Common Craftsmanship).
The issue from RT -> BC with PF -> Infamy is that the scale and quality numbers are different. It's not that big of a deal, but keep it in mind for the vehicles in particular.
Yeah, infamy works like profit factor, but it's also used as fate points AND as a tracker for reaching endgame in the campaign. Either starting a black crusade with alot of infamy and low corruption, ending up as a warpspawn, high of both and you reach ascendancy and become an immortal daemon prince.
Will have to scale it around a bit, but at worst they can be given one in order to complete a task by a chaos champion or warband leader.
