Semi/full-auto + lightning attack, and Preternatural Speed

By KingGheedorah, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Hey all,

Two rules questions for you.

#1: Say I have a character with the Swift Attack talent wielding a sword and an autopistol. Could I fire the pistol on semi-auto while using Swift Attack? Naming conventions on actions seems to suggest I could - the errata states (bolded for relevance) that:

"If you have the Two-Weapon Wielder talent and are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and a pistol in the other, you get the advantage of Swift Attack with the melee weapon and a single attack with the pistol."

Whereas Swift/Lightning Attack count as separate 'attacks' contained in the same action (allowing for multiple reactions to counteract the attacks, if possible), Semi- and Full-Auto count as one 'attack' for the purposes of reactions. Thus, it seems to imply that one could, in fact, Swift Attack and Semi-Auto in the same Multiple Attack Action.

#2: Extending on that question. The Preternatural Speed talent allows for a Death Cult Assassin to use Swift Attack or Lightning Attack as a Half Action and on the end of a Charge action. Would a Death Cult Assassin wielding a melee weapon in one hand and a pistol capable of Semi- or Full-Auto fire in the otherhand likewise be able to attack two/three times with their melee weapon and fire Semi- or Full-Auto with their pistol as a Half Action or as part of a Charge?

At some point they specify that "single attack" means single shot style, half action, standard attack. See the "Standard Attack" action on page 191 of the Core book. It states that you may make "one ... ranged attack" meaning a single shot. I know this isn't the best evidence ever, but it's been discussed and everyone settled on single shot.

With lightning attack that means you get 3 attacks with your melee weapon and 1 single shot with your offhand. A webber or a flamer can be incredibly effective here.
