1. Is Cat O' The Canals immune to Deadly?

2. Can When I Woke... not be played if QotD Brienne won the mil challenge (I ask because it says "after the challenge has been resolved).

3. Reinforcements don't go to the dead pile if they are killed as characters? Even if that's so, it just seems counter-intuitive.

Thank you in advance

Characters are considered to be "participating" in the challenge through all passives and Responses triggered when the challenge resolves. That means when Brienne is participating, your opponent doesn't get Responses to winning/losing the challenge, either.

1. Cat O' The Canals is immune to every opponents card effect including deadly. The only way she can be killed is by MIL claim or by her controllers own cards. Pyat Pree is a way to also kill her as he changes how the claim of that challenge is resolved. Since claim is a game mechanic and not a card effect, that makes it possible.

2. Characters participate in a challenge until after the moribund cards leave play in Step 6. Meaning, Step 5 is the chance to play Responses to things that happen from a challenge and its results, so you will not be able to play "When I Woke..." because it responds to the resolution of a challenge and Brienne of Tarth is still participating at that point.

3. Reinforcement event cards that are played creates a lasting effect that makes them into that character card. Like any other card with a lasting effect, once it leaves play, it loses its lasting effect. So, if a Reinforcement event card is killed as a character, it reverts back to an Event card which goes into the discard pile unless it is Deathbound.

Every time I think I have a firm grasp of the rules, a bunch of stuff that makes no sense to me is correct. Then when I wrap my head around that stuff and make decisions about the next few things with the last few things in mind, it seems to go the opposite way. It's a bit frustrating when you can't even make proper decisions in a game you're playing because the rules are such a quagmire that things turn out a completely different way than you thought they would.

That's not you guys' fault though. Thanks for the answers.
