New Reckless Dice podcast up

By Jagdcarcajou, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hey,

Horror at Hugeldal is started on Reckless Dice. I only mention this because I GM'd it... gui%C3%B1o.gif

And before anyone points it out, I screwed up combat on my end, forgetting to add Str or Agi to damage rolls several times. Won't happen again!

Listening now

I'll take any opportunity I can to praise the Reckless Dice. It's the best single game-specific podcast I know of.

Thumbs Up! Always a pleasure to listen to them.

Dude, i know the feeling, i forgot to add strength to the bad guys for my first 2 sessions (Day Late, A Shiling Short & the first episode of Eye for an Eye)

You know had you not said anything, we would have had no idea =)

Gitz

Oh and in honor of the new adventure, i made a cartoon rendering of all our characters, i'll post it soon. (even Grom)

Gitzman (Konrad the Amathyst Wizard)

great session. i really hope FFG will give the reckless dice guys some interview access to writers/ developers going forward. i got interested in warhammer 3E because of the podcast and basically learned how to play the game from the podcast. i lumped warhammer 3E in with DnD 4E when first saw the components and probably would not have invested in the system at all if i had not heard reckless dice and some of fistful of misanthropes actual plays.

First off love the podcast, easily the best live play podcast I've heard.

I noticed that our one armed dwarf friend took a critical from a hit that was dealing only min. damage. I remembered something about min damage and criticals. Seems that if the damage is reduced to 0 or less by soak the damage is 1 normal wound. If critical wounds are dealt the damage is the number of critical wounds as normal wounds. Just thought I'd let you know. Also I did the same thing on a day late and a Schilling short. Looking forward to the next podcast and live play.

Tyler,

Great observation regarding the Critical Wound. I often overlook that rule as it is such a specific case when to apply it. Good old Thorin (the one-armed dwarf) seems to perpetually be in the grasp of these critical wounds though Sigmar bless him. He keeps the rest of us alive.

Session two has been recorded and is in editing. Very interesting episode, lots happens, kuddos to Chris Wagner our GM.

I started to listen to the podcast yesterday. I'm kinda new at podcasts hearings. But I'm enjoying a lot! Since I'm going at a bike trip with my girl on February, I think I'll be through all episodes at the time I come back to the city.

Great to hear there are people who came into the game through the podcast. Great achievement!

Gitz, I'll use this message to ask a completely different thing, since I came to the podcast through your resource site - and I don't have a way to send you a private message. Do you plan to bring The Edge of Night to Maptoolz? Your Eye for an Eye version helped a lot when I GMed the adveture - specially since the official maps lacks a lot, I think.

Great work, guys!

I've sort of stopped making new content for MapTools as of late.... HOWEVER... my most recent map that i almost finished was The Edge of Night and it is quite nice actaully. I've finished most of it and could post it to Gitzman's Gallery.

Let me see if i can dig up the file tonight, i have not opened it for a while now.

Haha, I bet this will be one memorable bike trip for her with you listening through ~50 hours of episodes and play sessions. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Great, Gitz, thanks! That'll sure be welcome.

Have you talked about Maptools at the podcast in some episode? It seems a great resource to me - even if not used the manner it seems to be built for, playing online or such. I would like to experience it online, but for some reason I don't see it working without finding a good group.

hehe. well, when you ride a bike all day long, you don't actually have a way to keep a conversation. you ride in a line, at the side of the road. it's a mind game, really. you do exchange some words, but other than that, you keep to yourself - even if attentive to the pace, the road, the traffic, your companions.

it's actually harder to deal with yourself than with the fact that you are using your own strenght and stamina to move - specially when you are riding a fixed gear bike, which is our case. they are strenght-wise, you just have to keep the rhythm.

and rest assured: she will be hearing great rock'n'roll at her phones. :]

heh, in my experience women can be very sensible when it comes to those issues. Not talking to each other can be fine, but not being available for talking can really drive them mad. But it seems you picked an exception. aplauso.gif Good for you!

T.

Yes we have talked about MapTools quite a bit, especially in the early episodes (5-10 i think). We also talk quite a bit about Fantasy Grounds II which is another alternative to MapTools.

The following Live Sessions were recorded while playing games using either MapTools or Fantasy Grounds II over the web and Skype:

  • A Day Late, A Shilling Short (MapTools)
  • The Gathering Storm (MapTools)
  • An Eye for an Eye (MapTools)
  • With a Little Help from my Friends (Fantasy Grounds II)
  • All the other episodes to date have been recorded at a live table.

Gitzman

Gitz, thanks for the explanation. I'm listening through the Episode 1 and noticed you bring Maptools up.

I'll check Fantasy Ground II as well.
